This is one of those little tricks I use all the time for my clients, and it works every single time.

If you're a small business owner who wants more local leads without spending money on ads, keep reading.

Let's use a roofer as the example.

👉 Step 1: First, join a few local community or town Facebook groups in your area if you haven't already. That's where the good stuff lives.

👉 Step 2: Go to the Facebook search bar and type "roofer," "need a roofer," or "roof repair."

👉 Step 3: After the results pop up, click "Groups" in the filter bar at the top.

👉 Step 4: Sort by "Recent" so you see the freshest posts first, not whatever Facebook decides to show you.

👉 Step 5: Bookmark that page in your browser.

Now every morning, you open that bookmark and you've got a live feed of people in your area asking about roofing help. Ready and waiting.

One of the simplest fixes: stop posting what you think sounds good and start posting what your customers actually ask you.

Most small business owners post on social media and then wait.

They wait for likes, for calls, for something to happen.

It rarely does, and that's not a content problem. It's a strategy problem.

Start with this: write down the last five questions a customer asked you. Those are your next five posts.

Your audience already told you what they want to know. You just have to answer it.

I audited 3 local business profiles. All 3 were losing customers before anyone walked in the door.

Not bad service. Not pricing. Just a Google profile that looked abandoned.

Old reviews with no replies. Wrong hours. A photo from 2019.

People check you out online before they call. If your profile looks ignored, they move on.

Ask yourself:

• When did you last respond to a review?
• Are your hours right?
• Does your profile look like a business you'd trust?
