💗 This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m proud to share a story that is both personal and profoundly meaningful.

My dear friend of more than 10 years — and talented colleague — Stacy Alyse Simon has written an inspiring piece: “Get Squished: A Survivor’s Take on Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Happy Samaritans Awareness Day!

Founded in 1953 by Chad Varah, the Samaritans Foundation aims to help people struggling with depression and suicidal ideation in the UK, as well as open a dialogue about mental health in general.

OCD is often mischaracterized as simply pathological neatness, but it's crucial to understand that it goes far beyond that. OCD is a complex condition with a wide range of symptoms including intrusive thoughts, repetitive habits and hypermorality - an obsession with being as good a person as possible by one's own moral standards that results in spirals of self-hatred and fear when those often unrealistic standards are not met by the individual.

Offer empathy and support to those affected, as their struggle may not be visible due to their personality type, or stereotypes surrounding their condition. Together, we can create a more compassionate society.

Beyond the persistent feelings of sadness, depression can manifest as loss of interest, low energy levels, difficulty concentrating, changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, and even physical pain. It's a silent battle that millions fight every day.

Let's all reach out and let our loved ones struggling with depression know that we care, and do our best to foster empathy.
