🚨☀️ URGENT CALL FOR EMERGENCY ELECTRICITY BILL RELIEF IN LOS ANGELES ⚡️

Because of the extreme and prolonged heat affecting Southern California, especially Los Angeles, residents are being forced to run air conditioning and fans for extended periods just to keep their homes safe and livable — resulting in significantly higher electricity bills.

I have sent a formal letter to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass requesting that she consider signing an Executive Directive/Order Establishing an Emergency Residential Electricity Bill Relief Program for qualifying Los Angeles residents affected by extreme heat.

⚡️ Our most vulnerable residents should not have to choose between staying cool and safe and being able to afford their electricity bill.

The letter was also CC’d to:

• Allan Marks, President, Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners
• Marqueece Harris-Dawson, President, Los Angeles City Council — CD 8
• John Lee, Los Angeles City Councilmember — CD 12

• Hugo Soto-Martínez, Los Angeles City Councilmember — CD 13

This is a public safety and affordability issue that deserves immediate attention.

I am calling on our city leadership to explore emergency assistance options, including temporary electricity bill relief for residents facing extraordinary utility costs because of extreme heat.

🎤✨ WHAT WAS READ DURING THE HONOREE PRESENTATIONS AT THE 1ST ANNUAL DIVERSITY NEWS MAGAZINE AWARDS 2026

One of the things I’m most proud of from the 1st Annual Diversity News Magazine Awards 2026 was having the opportunity to recognize individuals whose leadership, public service, community involvement, and dedication make a meaningful difference.

As the Executive Publisher of Diversity News Magazine and Executive Producer of the Awards, I wanted these honoree presentations to be more than just awards — I wanted them to be meaningful moments of appreciation, recognition, and celebration.

Today, I’m sharing what was read on stage during the presentation honoring David C. Nguyen, West Valley Area Representative for the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, with the Community Leadership Excellence Award.

It was truly an honor to recognize David and celebrate his commitment to public service, civic engagement, community empowerment, volunteerism, and helping the communities he serves thrive.
