🌲 Walking through the woods this morning, I found myself thinking about how resilient ecosystems rarely depend on a single species alone. Diversity creates strength, balance, adaptability, and long-term sustainability.

I increasingly believe the same is true organizationally. 🌱

In my latest LinkedIn article (link in bio), I explore what I’ve come to think of as “funding fragility” within the nonprofit sector - and the growing need for more diversified, strategically aligned, and sustainable organizational ecosystems.

Not simply to survive.

But to build healthier organizations without exhausting the very people carrying the work forward.

Curious what others are seeing right now around:
organizational sustainability,
event fatigue,
diversified revenue,
leadership burnout,
and long-term resilience?

🦉 Two nights ago, I stood on a wooded trail behind The Mill watching a barred owl for at least fifteen minutes.

Not scrolling.
Not rushing somewhere.
Not multitasking.
Just paying attention.

Reflecting on that has made me think a lot about leadership, growth, discernment, and how difficult it has become to think clearly in a culture built around constant urgency.

Over the past several years — especially through my work with nonprofit leaders, founders, small business owners, and organizations navigating growth and change — I’ve become increasingly interested in the relationship between intentionality, sustainability, and the space needed for clear thinking.

I wrote a few reflections on that in my latest article- link in bio. 🌱

Finally made it to Blueprints Coffee Club yesterday morning with Phil (Grants New England) & honestly… it was fantastic. 🌱☕️

What Chris Jasinski has built is such a great reminder that meaningful community and collaboration often start with something simple: creating intentional space for good people to connect authentically.

What stood out most to me was the quality of the conversations. I got to reconnect thoughtfully with longtime friends and colleagues, meet new people doing really interesting work across Rhode Island and Boston, and even schedule a couple of follow-up meetings while there.

No big pitch.
No awkward networking.
Just real conversations, curiosity, generosity, and relationship-building.

That kind of environment feels more important than ever right now.

Big credit to Chris for growing this into such a meaningful regional community — and thank you so much to Withum for hosting! Kevin Hundley, Caren, and the rest of the team were incredibly welcoming.

Looking forward to making this part of my monthly rhythm moving forward. ☕️💫

🦄 Last night, Phil (Grants New England) and I had the joy of attending The Empowerment Factory’s annual fundraiser at The Met - and what a beautiful celebration of purpose, creativity, community, and LOVE it was!

Founder Gail Ahlers was absolutely radiant in her signature Gail style - sparkles, pink, art, unicorns, and pure passion brought fully to life. As anyone that knows Gail is aware...she is one of the kindest, most fearless, purpose-driven people I know, and the energy in the room reflected the heart she has poured into this organization for over a decade.

From the incredible New Providence Big Band to the endless delicious food, amazing raffle items, photo booth fun, artwork everywhere, and the beautiful mix of longtime supporters, new volunteers, educators, advocates, and community leaders - the entire evening felt like a giant joyful reminder of what’s possible when people come together around children, creativity, empowerment, and hope! 🩷

As Congressman Gabe Amo shared so perfectly, the work TEF does truly matter. Helping children feel empowered, creative, confident, and equipped with tools for healthier, happier lives creates ripple effects far beyond the classroom...

And it was wonderful seeing Sabina Matos ‘again’ this week too - as well as so many other friends and colleagues - it has definitely been a busy and inspiring week all around Rhode Island!

Grateful for organizations like TEF and for people like Gail who remind us that joy, creativity, compassion, and advocacy belong together. 💜🦄✨🎨

This morning’s Skills for RI’s Future / SBA Summit was exactly the kind of energy I needed ✨

I could only stop in briefly between meetings - but I’m so glad I made it happen!

There’s something powerful about being in a room filled with people who are committed to growth, opportunity, and showing up for each other. The conversations, the connections, the shared mindset…you could feel it.

I also loved catching so many friends and colleagues (you know who you are 💛) and seeing our Lt. Governor, Sabina Matos, on her way in to present - always inspiring to see leadership grounded in community and possibility.

Even a short visit can be a reminder:
👉 We’re building something bigger - together!!! 💫

💫NEW LinkedIn article is posted! *Link in bio…

🌱 One of the things I’ve noticed over the years is that “marketing” means very different things to different people.

For some, it’s social media.
For others, it’s branding.
For others still, it’s a department.

But what if that’s the problem? I’ve been thinking a lot about how marketing actually functions inside organizations - and how often it’s expected to solve problems that don’t originate there. This article is a reflection on that… and on why smaller organizations may have more of an advantage than they realize.

Would love your thoughts!

Nights like this 🌊💫

So good to be back in that pre-COVID RI Bio energy - great conversations, beautiful views, and a room full of people who genuinely care about what we’re building here.

Thank you to Patrice, Jaimy, Glenn, and the RI Bio team - and to Tina for sponsoring such a special evening ✨

Loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new ones too (including friends who came down from Boston!)

And always fun to bring Phil along and make some great introductions! 😊

We (Ashley Peck .studio & I) had the best visit to the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council HQ in Central Falls this week! 💛

It had been years since I was last in this area and WOW - the transformation is incredible. Thoughtful, vibrant, and full of life!

Their space is absolutely stunning with beautiful options for dining, events, and gatherings throughout the building - and the work they’re doing across the region is just as impressive.

And if you haven’t done it yet… their riverboat tours on the Explorer are a MUST 🚤✨

So grateful for the warm welcome and inspired by all that’s happening in the Blackstone Valley 💫
