Whew what a year! First, I just want to say thanks for sticking with the group, we really appreciate all the support during what was a really crazy time in life. I’m super excited to start showing some of our new items I’ve been working on over the last few months and the expansion of a whole new category we have brought in! I’m going to be kicking off our reopening with a Christmas/Fall/Halloween in July sale (see next post below!) I do want to share just a little update on our hiatus and new location.
For those that don’t know I had some health problems that started up last April and I ended up in the hospital in June/July. At the end of July my long awaited government security clearance finally came through and I accepted a new job in Cleveland Ohio. In August me and Aliyah packed up our life in Texas and headed north settling in the outskirts of Cleveland. (Let me tell you what a weather shock we have had, seriously it was still snowing in May this year) but we absolutely LOVE it! By mid August both Liyah and I were ready to get our new adventure started- Aliyah 2nd grade, me a new career. In September I ended up sick again and was in the hospital for a few weeks with pneumonia. October, November, and December we stayed busy getting used to our new routines and enjoying the fall & winter weather and enjoying the holidays with family. In December I was finally set to have surgery - after me and Liyah spent the remainder of the month with my parents while I recouped. In January we were only home a few weeks before heading out to St. Paul (in the midsts of a blizzard - SO much snow) to watch my mom graduate with her Masters degree-so proud! Febuary gave us just enough time for a quick breather before the world took us on a rollercoaster that is Coronavirus. By mid-March Ohio had shut down and closed schools so we spent the remainder of the school year learning to balance my new work load and Aliyah’s daily school work. After being cooped up in our tiny apartment the Summer brought us to my parents house in Virginia where Aliyah could run in a yard and ride her bike up and down the street and spend some much needed time with family.
As we gear up for Fall, the school year (whatever it may bring,) and my year anniversary in my new career I can’t help but reflect on what a crazy year this has been, but true for the entire human race. As we move forward into the unknown don’t forget to stop and look around you, enjoy the little things, appreciate your elders, smile and say hello to someone new, check on your friends, & take time for yourself too!
Wishing you and your family health and happiness during this trying time.
