In December, I attended the Indiana DNR 2025 Indiana Community and Urban Forestry Symposium, a two-day conference focused on the future of urban and community forests across Indiana.
The symposium brought together foresters, planners, nonprofit leaders, municipal staff, and advocates from across the state to explore topics ranging from urban canopy equity and tree risk management to funding strategies, data-driven decision making, and long-term community resilience.
Just as importantly, it created space to connect with peers statewide, share resources, and build relationships that will help bring new ideas, tools, and opportunities to the Greater Terre Haute area in the coming years.
Events like this are a reminder that strong communities don’t happen by accident. They’re grown intentionally through collaboration, good science, thoughtful planning, and people who care deeply about place. 🌳
