Customers aren't searching for services.

They're searching for solutions.

They don't search:
"Managed IT Services"

They search:
"Why does my network keep crashing?"

They don't search:
"Commercial Landscaping"

They search:
"How do I improve curb appeal?"

The businesses that answer those questions first usually win the business.

Can contractors go viral on TikTok?
Absolutely.

We've all seen the pressure washing videos, the landscaping transformations, the oddly satisfying excavation clips, and the jobsite content that racks up millions of views.

But here's the problem: too many businesses see those success stories and make going viral the strategy.

For every contractor blowing up on social media, there are thousands of potential customers searching Google for answers, services, pricing, and local providers.

Viral content can be a great bonus.

Being found when someone is actively looking to buy should be the priority.
The goal isn't views.

The goal is customers.

The phrase "boring industry" usually means one thing:
You don't think people care about what you do.

But your customers care.

Nobody wakes up excited to buy insurance, hire a waste management company, or replace a commercial HVAC system.

They do wake up with problems they need solved.

That's what marketing is for.

One of the most frustrating answers a marketing agency can give is:
"It depends."

But it might also be the most valuable.

-

Should you invest in Google Ads? Maybe.
Should you redesign your website? Possibly.
Should you be posting on social media every day? It depends on who you're trying to reach, what you're selling, where your customers spend their time, and what you're trying to accomplish.

Marketing isn't a multiple-choice test with the same right answer for everyone. The businesses that see the best results are the ones with strategies built around their goals, their customers, and their market.

If every problem gets the same recommendation, you're not getting strategy. You're getting a sales pitch.

Google announced major changes to Search, and the internet immediately declared SEO dead.

Again.

The reality is a lot less dramatic.

Search is evolving. AI is becoming part of how people find information. But that doesn't mean years of SEO best practices suddenly stopped mattering.

We're breaking down what Google's announcement actually means, what businesses should be paying attention to, and why we're not hitting the panic button.

When it comes to "AI slop," the problem isn't AI, it's lazy marketing.

We're seeing a narrative that no brands should use AI because it will turn off their customers. And while that is certainly true for some brands, it may not be the case for all.

What it really comes down to is:
1. Knowing your ideal customer
2. Using AI as a tool and not a replacement for your brain

Most paid ads don’t fail because of the platform.
They fail because the strategy behind them is weak.

Next Wednesday, Vision COO Julia Becker Collins will be speaking at thesmallbusinessexpo in Boston about how to build paid ads that actually work—not just campaigns that burn through budget and generate “awareness” with nothing to show for it.

If your ads are getting clicks but not customers, this session is for you.
