I first crossed paths with John and Carol Abel through our mutual friend, Pam Bierman, but then continued to cross paths with John in the years after Carol died, through the St. Charles Arts Council, the St. Charles Library Foundation, Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley and Fine Line Creative Arts Center. He shared a slightly less acerbic sense of humor than his wife of many years, a world view enriched and broadened by years in the Peace Corps and extensive travel, and an overflowing love of art. He was a delightful human being, whom I have missed since I learned of his passing. The art collection he and Carol curated over many years is truly impressive, and I know he hopes to see the sales of these items go a long way toward launching the next Fine Line building project. Please, whether you knew John or Carol or not, take time to look at their art collection and consider acquiring some pieces that can enhance your home or business as they did theirs. - Jane Cooper
Earlier this year, Fine Line lost a friend and volunteer, John Abel. He served on the board, gallery committee and made many of our furniture items for the galleries and studios. He has left his mark here and we miss his wry wit and dedication. Carol, his wife, passed in 2017 and volunteered at various locations through the Fox Valley. Fine Line inherited John and Carol’s vast art collection. It was their wish that this collection be used to benefit Fine Line. To fulfill their wishes, we present the John and Carol Abel Art Collection – an online auction that will go live on July 18th. We hope that you will peruse the magnificent offerings and find something you can’t live without.
All proceeds benefit Fine Line Creative Arts Center and will be used to support our arts programming.
