Mimi Rasor and Amy Clay attended the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Committee on Transportation Communications (TransComm) meeting last week. The event had record attendance with more than 240 communications professionals attending from nearly every state and the District of Columbia.

It’s always a great opportunity to hear from leading voices in the industry, connect with colleagues (like our pal Safety Sam) and discuss so many aspects of transportation communications. We were especially excited that this year's TransComm included a talk about communications for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project from our own Mimi Rasor, along with our partners Matt Bruning from ODOT and Allen Blair from KYTC.

Laura Whitman, Krysti Barnhill, Jane Meyer, Gina Stegner, Jenn Riegert and Natalie Brown most commonly step into project management roles at Rasor. They work to ensure project success from client kickoff meetings to the dashboard development and success measurement aspects of SHARP’s Performance phase.

Providing unique settings to hear from distinct community voices is an important step in any public works project. Last week, we had the opportunity to support the Monroe County Airport Master Plan with both a project advisory committee meeting and a public open house.

Last week, Rasor hosted a public hearing for the North Hamilton Crossing project. And, yes, a public hearing *is* different from a public meeting. The difference, in the words of Rasor Community Relations Consultant Laura Whitman: Much more formal than public meetings or open houses, public hearings are an important step in the environmental assessment review process. They provide the community with an opportunity to formally and publicly share their comments about the proposed project. In the case of North Hamilton Crossing, all comments will be reviewed and considered before a final determination is made on whether or not the project can advance as proposed.
