The sense of empowerment and equity for these students is real, them going home feeling like they have the ability to change their situation, economically and personally, or create a solution for bullying, for math, for reading fluency, all through their voice and their background… and that first time they see their app come to life, it hits on a few different levels.

It starts with thought, identifying real issues around them, then walking through it, How would I solve this problem? or How can I create revenue for myself?... Watching those questions turn into something real.

Knowing we are playing a small part in helping curb reading and math gaps through something they built themselves, that is the part that stays with you.
