If you boost your ads on Facebook or Instagram from your Apple iPhone or iPad, note that you will now be charged an in-app purchase fee.
"As part of the change, advertisers boosting posts on iOS will be billed by Apple, not Meta, and will be required to pay in advance rather than after the ads run."
You can avoid the fees by using a browser version of each app or by using the Meta Ads Manager instead of the Boost option on posts.
This will likely annoy advertisers, and may lead to fewer boosted posts and more ads manager built campaigns, however we don't think it will decrease the amount of ad spend on Meta platforms at all.
Meta Platforms said on Thursday that businesses purchasing a "boost" for their posts on the iOS versions of its social media apps Facebook and Instagram would need to pay an extra 30% service charge to app store operator Apple.
