FPRA currently has over 1,000 members throughout Florida. The Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association was created in 1980. John Dillin established the Florida Public Relations Association in 1938 for the purpose of helping public relations practitioners do their jobs better. As the oldest public relations organization in the country, FPRA is dedicated to developing public relatio
ns practitioners, who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. FPRA is comprised of 15 professional and 11 student chapters throughout the state, providing professional development, networking and professional recognition opportunities. The chapter holds regular meetings on the third Friday of each month at noon at the Ocala Hilton off SR 200. The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) is a statewide organization of public relations professionals dedicated to:
- Enhancing the professional development of its members,
- Providing a forum for personal growth through interaction and resource exchange,
- Serving as the "united voice" of the public relations profession in Florida,
- Fostering the highest professional standards and ethics of its members, and
- Gaining understanding and support for the performance of its members and the profession as a whole on behalf of all practitioners within the state of Florida.
