In the spirit of voices taking part... chime in for our expanded July Local Voices section!
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." And so we declared independence and began a great experiment. We are very proud of our magazine and the team that makes awards like this possible — making a great product possible for the readers and advertisers. This is only the beginning!

We're excited to announce that the Marion Mosaic received eight awards in the Florida Magazine Association's 2026 statewide competition, including the highest Charlie Award for Best New Magazine!

Competing against excellent publications across Florida, these recognitions affirm what we've believed from the beginning: that a community magazine produced right here in Ocala can stand alongside the best in the state.

Awards aren't the reason we do this work, but they matter. They validate countless hours of planning, brainstorming, writing, designing, editing, photographing, fact-checking, and storytelling. They remind us that quality still matters and that local journalism, local stories, and local creativity deserve to be taken seriously.

These awards belong not only to our team, but also to our contributors, photographers, advertisers, partners, and readers who continue to support thoughtful, high-quality storytelling about the people and places that make this community special.

Most importantly, recognition like this motivates us to keep raising the bar. To tell better stories. To create better design. To dig deeper. To keep building something worthy of the community we serve.

Happy 2026 everyone! Kick it off with a fresh issue of the Mosaic.

It's the first issue of 2026 and we’re diving right in with everything from river dreams and presence of mind to Tom Petty and LARPing (no worries if you don't know what that is, we explain it). There's the Black Sheep on Broadway, House of Shoogie, artists, and community changemakers, horticulture, events, and even the kitchen sink (just kidding, no sink), January’s Marion Mosaic has plenty to explore.
