When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. — Colossians 3:4

Thought
My world is beautiful today, great weather, wonderful church, loving spouse, great kids, and blessed with all I truly need. But this will certainly change. Life is bound up with mortality. Love is connected to imperfect people. Separation by geographical distance, disagreement, and death are bound to happen at different points in our lives. However, my incredible assurance in Christ is that my true and lasting "life is now hidden with Christ in God." While things may be good in my life now, they're always vulnerable to being touched by mortality, changed by our broken world, flawed people, and personal missteps. When Christ comes, however, my life with God will be made gloriously perfect and unstained by evil, death, or decay. Now that's good news and not just for me, but also for you as you center your life in Jesus!

Prayer
Holy and Righteous God, we thank you for your overwhelming and generous grace that saved us from sin. Thank you for Jesus, whose resurrection from the dead ensures our ultimate transformation into life forever with you and the resurrection reunion we will have with all who belong to you. Until that day when we get to praise you face to face, please receive our thanks and praise in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today's Verse for 03/03/2024
You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? — 1 Corinthians 3:3

Thought
The Corinthians boasted in their wisdom, giftedness, and tolerance. Yet this wisdom, gifted, and tolerance were worldly and not holy. No matter how gifted a church, how full of earthly wisdom its leaders may have, or how tolerant they are to other opinions, if the people of that church are caught up in petty arguments, cliquishness, and ugly quarrels, they are immature and worldly. Rather than being a place where Christ is known and shown, their meetings are no more than just a gathering of "mere humans." We are recreated in Christ to be more!
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Let's live up to what God has made us to be and not be worldly and "mere humans."

Prayer
Holy and Righteous Father, please humble me gently and call me to repentance when I am jealous, quarrelsome, cliquish, or petty. I know you see me as your beloved child, so I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit for me to be who you have made me to be. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries." — Daniel 2:27-28

Thought
Daniel spoke the ageless truth to King Nebuchadnezzar when he wanted his dream interpreted. The question for us is straightforward: "Do we believe what Daniel said?" What is the bedrock of our faith in uncertain times? Who knows where all the upheaval, tumult, and uncertainty are truly heading? In whom can we find the solution to our most perplexing problems? Where can our hearts find comfort in times of political upheaval and conflict? For Daniel and his friends, there was one solid and accurate answer: the Lord God of Israel. It wasn't in the so-called wise teachers or sages of the day. It wasn't in the religions of the East. It wasn't in the super-spiritualists. It was and still is, in the Lord God alone.

Prayer
Dear Father, you are the One True and Living God! There is no one else and no other thing that can compare to you in splendor, righteousness, and majesty. To you, Father belongs all praise, honor, and glory. I trust you to lead my life and guide me into the understanding I need to do your will. I ask, dear Father, that you intervene in our world and call the cultures of nations and their leaders back to you! In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Today's Verse for 02/26/2024
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. — James 2:26

Thought
By this definition, I fear that many people claiming to be believers are spiritual corpses. For our faith to be genuine, James says it must express itself in good deeds. Jesus said something similar in his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:21). Faith not only moves mountains but must also move believers to act in ways that honor God and bless others. Faith also becomes a true believer's way of demonstrating thankfulness to God for his amazing grace.

Prayer
Holy and Faithful Father, please forgive me for the times I've been lazy in my spiritual walk when my faith didn't prompt me to do good deeds. Help me see the many opportunities for service you give to me each day and empower me to act on those opportunities in ways that bless others and honor you. In Jesus' holy name, I pray. Amen.
