How long does an outdoor flag last? In a harsh climate, flying every day and never brought inside, one of our custom flags can go 12 to 18 months before it shows the first signs of fading.

Fall weather is when that time goes fastest. Wind whips the fly end and rain soaks the fabric day after day. Bringing outdoor advertising flags in overnight or during storms stretches the life of every flag you own.

If this is your flag's second fall, look at the fly end first. That's where wear shows.

Every feather flag pole kit comes with the same hardware: an aluminum pole with a fiberglass flex tip, a fiberglass ground stake, a bungee loop and a washer. Here's how it goes together.

The stake goes into the ground first and the washer slides down onto it. Join the pole sections, slide the flag's sleeve onto the pole and seat the flex tip in the top corner, then hook the bungee loop through the bottom grommet so the flag stays taut. Set the pole down over the stake and it's up.

On hard ground, a rubber mallet makes the stake easier.

Walk around the back of a single sided flag and you'll see your design in reverse.

That's normal. Our custom flags are printed through the fabric, so the back shows a mirror image of the front. A double sided flag is two printed flags sewn together with a blockout layer between them, so both sides read the right way. The extra layer makes it heavier, so it needs a bit more wind to fly.

If people see your advertising flag from both directions and it carries words, go double sided. If it's mostly color and shape, single sided does the job.

A banner tied only at the corners flaps in the wind, and a flapping banner is hard to read.

That's why our custom banners get brass grommets in all four corners and every two feet along the edge on larger sizes. On a fence you can tie off every grommet, so the banner sits flat against the wire from one end to the other. Zip ties or bungee cords both work.

If yours is going on a fence at a fall fair or a game, tie off every grommet, not just the corners.

Before you pick a banner size, measure where it's going to hang.

A 2x7 fits over a doorway or across the front of a table. A 3x8 or a 4x10 suits a fence at a game or a storefront wall. A 5x20 is for a building face or a long run of fence people see from across the road. We print custom banners from 2x7 up to 5x20 on 13oz vinyl, plus custom sizes, and every one gets brass grommets in the corners.

If holiday hours or a Black Friday sale is coming, now's a good time to measure.

A pumpkin patch only gets a few weeks a year, and most of its customers find it from the road.

That's the job advertising flags do best. A row of feather flags along the verge tells drivers what's there and where to turn before they've passed the gate. Our feather flag kits come with the printed flag, an aluminum pole with a flex tip and a ground stake, so they go straight into the grass beside the drive.

Tell us what you're selling this fall and we'll print it.

A banner has one job and about two seconds to do it.
Whatever cannot be read from across the road is decoration. Fewer words, bigger type and one clear thing to do with the information. We print vinyl banners hemmed and grommeted, ready to go straight up.
Say one thing, and say it big.

Sponsors pay to be seen, and most golf day signage is read from three feet away.
A course is open ground, so the signage that works is the signage that carries. One flag per hole, the sponsor's name big enough to read from the cart path, moved between holes as the day runs and packed into a case at the end of it.
Sponsors who get seen come back next year.

Not every frontage has room for a flag that swings.
A vertical flag hangs in its own footprint, so it works on a tight pavement, a shared entrance or anywhere a swooper would end up in somebody's way. The readable area is taller than it is wide, which suits a name and one line.
Height where you have no width.

A flag that has faded by November was bought for the wrong season.
Outdoor flags do their hardest work in autumn: more wind, more rain, more hours flying. Material and stitching decide whether it still looks right at the next ceremony or whether it quietly gets replaced.
American made, and built to still be up in spring.
