Did you know? Spring is one of the best times to spot gray whales migrating past Ocean Shores. 🐋 🌊

Every year, thousands of gray whales travel along the Washington coast on one of the longest migrations in the animal kingdom—and sometimes you can spot them right from the beach. 👀

Keep your eyes on the horizon for a spout, a splash, or the smooth curve of a whale breaking the surface. Early mornings and calmer days can make sightings even easier.

There’s something pretty magical about standing on the beach and realizing a whale is passing by out there. 💙

Some weeks in Ocean Shores feel extra alive — this is one of them.

The week of May 18–24 brings a little bit of everything: live music drifting out of local spots, community events worth wandering into, beach-town traditions, and those random “well, that turned into a fun day” moments this place does so well. 🌊

If you’ve been meaning to get out of the house, invite a friend, support something local, or just break up the routine a little… this is your sign.

We pulled everything together in one place so you can spend less time searching and more time actually doing stuff.

💌 Bonus tip: our Thursday newsletter is basically the cheat code for knowing what’s happening before the weekend sneaks up on you.

Did you know? 🌊

The Pacific Ocean here can shift from calm to powerful in a matter of moments. What looks like a peaceful shoreline can suddenly bring in strong waves, sneaker waves, or unexpected surges.

That’s why locals always say: never turn your back on the ocean. 👀

✔️ Keep your eyes on the water
✔️ Stay aware of changing tides and wave patterns
✔️ Give the surf plenty of space—especially during higher tides or storms

It’s all about enjoying the beauty and respecting the power. Stay safe out there. 💙

Did you know? 🌊

Not all sand dollars you find on the beach are empty shells…

If they’re dark in color and feel a little fuzzy, they’re actually still alive! That “fuzz” is made up of tiny spines they use to move and feed. 💛

If you come across one, the kind thing to do is gently return it to the water so it can keep doing its thing. The pale, smooth ones you often see are the shells that have already passed on. 🐚

A good rule of thumb: admire, learn, and leave the living ones where they belong.

Did you know? 🌿🦌

Spring in Ocean Shores means fawn season—and you might spot baby deer tucked quietly into tall grass, dunes, or even near neighborhoods.

If you see one alone, don’t worry—this is totally normal. Mama deer often leave their fawns hidden while they forage nearby, and they’ll come back. The best thing you can do is give them space and let them rest. 💛

🚫 Don’t touch or move them
🐾 Keep dogs leashed and at a distance
📸 Enjoy the moment from afar

These little ones rely on staying still and unnoticed to stay safe—so your distance helps more than you know.
