One of the biggest breakthroughs you’ll have in your Photography business is when you realize It’s not about the photos.

Yes you’re taking and delivering photos but what your business stands for and the way that you attract clients and the experience that you provide is so much more than photos.

So often photographers get caught in the trap of taking on any and every client because we have to pay the bills but as you start to get more experience under your belt you realize that there’s a certain type of client that you vibe with the most.

More often than not the clients that we like the most the clients that we want to work with are a reflection of ourselves. The things that we love, stand for, believe in, and hope for are the things we should be looking for in our ideal clients.

Your photography is a platform for you to have an impact on someone’s life in an intimate way.

It’s your responsibility to find those perfect clients and have incredible impact in their lives.

At Wild Eyed we create brands for photographers to help them at any stage of their journey to start connecting and having impact with their ideal clients.

Head to the link in my bio to find out how!

Imposter Syndrome. That ugly feeling we all get when we feel like we’re not good enough. That feeling like someone is going to find out we’re frauds and that our whole business is a sham. ⁣

Everyone feels this at some point or another in their business. I personally have felt this when I spend to much time comparing myself too other designers and strategists. I feel like I don’t know enough or that what I do know is wrong. It turns into this cascade of self doubt and feeling that I should just pack it up and go back to a day job. ⁣

On slide 6 of this post I list a couple places where Impostor Syndrome tends to spring up from. Do any of those things resonate with you? Comment below which one of those places resonates with you the most. ⁣

For me it’s the comparison trap. When I look at other designers I admire like the amazing team over at or my girl I start to feel insecure about my down design capabilities. Beyond that I start to question if what I do is really making a difference in the lives of the people I’m working for. ⁣

So how do we deal with this. How do we get past these feelings?⁣

1. Sit down with yourself and ask where this is coming from. Are you comparing yourself? Are you struggling with perfectionism? Do you have anxiety that you haven’t dealt with yet? ⁣

2. Once you’ve been honest with yourself then you can start to figure out how to overcome what you’re really dealing with. For me, I had other things in my life that I wasn’t dealing with that were bleeding over and amplifying these feelings. So I chose to go to counseling. Best decision I ever made. ( Besides Marrying my wife 😜 ).⁣

3. Remember that this thing of owning your own business is a journey. You have to be willing to change and become the best version of your self everyday for this to work. It’s a process and most of us even if we’ve been in business for a few years are still very early in this process. So be kind to yourself. Hustle hard but rest when it’s time. If you’re struggling, get help. ⁣

How have you dealt with imposter syndrome? Light up the comments with how you’ve dealt or are dealing with it. There’s lots of people t

One of the most difficult things as a photographer is to hone in on your ideal client. The ideal client being the client you purposefully want to work with.

I think far to often we embrace the starving artist mentality. We’re willing to take any client because well... we’ve got bills to pay and Starbucks isn’t free. ☕️

Don’t get me wrong when we first start out. That’s just the reality. You gotta take everything at first so you can get the business going. The problem is. We setup camp in that place. 🏕

We become unsure of ourselves and our pricing. We look at the photographers around us and get stuck in the comparison trap. We start to focus on ourselves rather than the clients 😬.

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

🤦‍♂️ You’ve wanted to say no to a client but you needed the money so you took the client anyway.

🤦‍♂️ You start working with a client and thought hey these people are awesome. Only to find out...they were in fact...not that awesome.

🤦‍♂️ You are barely scrapping by financially but are to afraid to raise your prices to where you know they should be.

Those things are all symptoms of the same issue. You’re not working with your ideal client. The client that lights your soul up. That trusts you and your vision. The client that shouts your praises from the rooftops. The client that’s life is affected for the better buy choosing you as their photographer.

The perfect client does exist. You just have to be willing to get real with yourself and your business so you can decide what that client looks like.

Once you do that the journey begins! Once you know and understand who your perfect client is. Everything you do with your business should be geared towards addressing them directly.

Swipe through the slides to find an excersise that will help you start to figure out who your perfect client is!!

Happy new year fam! I’d love to post some big inspirational thing about going into 2021 and how we need to hustle more and but.... I think the most important thing is that regardless of what your plans for 2021 are. We need to accomplish those plans . 2020 was so polarizing and we saw so much division and pain. Future plans are important but they don’t mean anything if we don’t accomplish them together. Thank you for supporting Wild Eyed and I’m so honored to get to work along side each and every one of you in the years to come! HAPPY NEW Year!

During a brand strategy session yesterday. We were getting towards the end and I wanted to circle back and tie everything we were talking about into the goals we had talked about earlier.

I made a comment (one that I make frequently) and for some reason, it hit me differently when I heard myself say it. All of a sudden I felt this fire in my soul! I probably spent a good 5 minutes trying to make sure I drove home this point.

If the excitement of your dreams doesn't keep you up and night and cause you to hop out of bed with gusto in the morning...you need new dreams.

I think too often we're scared to let ourselves dream. We're scared of what happens if we fail and never reach those dreams (this guy. We're scared because we feel like our dreams are just too big. Even worse is, we're scared because we don't feel worthy of our dreams ( also this guy).

My mentor said this to me today in our coaching about my business, and it hit me on a spiritual level even though I probably didn't show it on my face.

She said: "I give you permission to raise your prices".

Now you're probably wondering what the heck does that have to do with anything?

It's everything. So often we hold ourselves back from chasing our dreams, charging what we're worth, or feeling worthy of achieving those dreams because we haven't given ourselves permission to. And to hear Leslie say...I give you permission today, just unlocked something inside of me. It was like I realized it was ok to do all of those things and I was so silly for thinking that I couldn't.

So... Today....I give you permission to let yourself dream. To let yourself fail and to get back up, To let yourself finally accept that you are worthy of every dream that's kept you up at night and every dream that pulls you out of bed in the morning.
