Finally got to try Blackberry cider. Unfortunately, a coworker accidentally drank my cider. 🙄 Luckily I am visiting a friend in Oklahoma and he offered be another AEC Blackberry cider as soon as I arrived! 😊 This cider is a little on the sweet side, but still a solid well balanced cider. Austin East Ciders distributes to Wichita, so give this one a try if you see it.

The day before officially started, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Happy Hour and Food Pairing event. All of the ciders that were served were fantastic, but this event included one of my favorite ciders from the entire conference - Passionfruit Hop Crop - was a standout cider for me. The hops were very subtle and were perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the passiontfruit.

So what is cider? Hard cider is defined as an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting the juice of apples. Cider is often backsweetened with other juice or concentrate to add sweetness or flavors. Most of the major cider producers have cider that is very sweet. For me personally, I prefer cider that is dry to semi-sweet. There are craft cideries that are putting out really good hard cider. & some of those cideries are in Kansas!

Hi - the name is Christina - follow me as I explore all things hard cider in Wichita, Kansas and beyond. I am a longtime lover of craft cider. I - almost - exclusively drink craft cider and sour beer - the latter is only because of how difficult finding craft cider has been. The good news is that is starting to change, cider is now having a moment, more people are discovering that not all cider is super sweet, and finding their love for cider. I am not sure exactly what my goal is with this page is, but follow me and we can figure it out together.
