⚽ A recent episode of Ted Lasso is getting attention for something we’ve been studying here for years: emotional co-regulation — how a calm, supportive presence can help another person navigate big emotions and get back on track. In the recent “Follow the Anger” episode, Ted sends a powerful message about how to show up when someone is upset.
In partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE), Public Strategies developed resources to make the science of self- and co-regulation more practical and accessible for educators, coaches, mentors, and the people who support others every day.
At its core, co-regulation happens when caring adults help others regulate their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so they can stay on track with their goals. 💛 Check out our animated video to learn how your calm can help someone else find their emotional footing — and play their very best.
