Iโ€™ve been mulling over what the true value we bring to clients.

But there is something deeper.

Your sales suck because you donโ€™t know how to position your brand.

If people have a problem and you can solve it, theyโ€™ll buy. Simple, right?

Yet, when I ask clients โ€œ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—บ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—น๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ?โ€, I usually getโ€ฆ silence.
And thatโ€™s normal. Only a handful of clients semi-answer this question correctly.

Seems simple, but itโ€™s not.

Because what I really want to know is the emotion behind the problem.

Is it fear?
Feeling less than?
Shame?

1. List every problem your ideal market struggles withโ€”from the mundane to the existential.
2. Identify what you do that truly solves these issues. (Hint: you might be solving problems you didnโ€™t even realize).
3. Connect the dots. Whatโ€™s the emotional weight of their problem? How would solving it make them feel? How would not solving it affect them?

Yes, itโ€™s a lot of work. But once you nail this, it solves more than just marketingโ€”it transforms your sales.

And FYI, this is all part of brand strategy. So, before anything else, get specific about your ideal market.

I was catching up on emails when this gem from Sahil Bloomโ€™s newsletter stopped me cold.

It resonated because I had recently written about my decision to immigrate to the US, a year marked by intense isolation.

About two years ago, when I got serious about growing nuevo. I remember driving home from the office one evening and realizing: I had no life outside of work.

Itโ€™s hard to come up with great ideas when youโ€™re looking at the same stuff.

Travel for me is about replenishing my creativity, learning new things, meeting new people, and being open to new experiences.

It simply adds more to my toolkit of ideas so when I face a challenge at work I have more tools to solve the problem.

If you were to scan through my 18,000 pics on my phone - half of my travel pictures would be of logos, architecture, menu design, murals, etc.

These all add to my visual language library, that I use when designing new brands or ideas.

Soโ€ฆ Iโ€™m off to Mexico City to replenish, recenter, reignite the creative spark.
