We love that our team is global. One of our talented graphic designers, Naomi Sumi, based in Sapporo, Japan, specializes in brand creation and package design.

When designing a memorable brand, philosophically and practically, Naomi’s working premise is that brand creation is more than just graphic design. It is also about understanding the medium being used to convey the brand to the client’s customers.

Her work designing containers, ranging from bags to boxes, has deepened her understanding of design, brand and how the two must work together.

The S Design team loves nothing more than to immerse ourselves in telling a great story beautifully. Nicol Ragland, whose ability to capture the beauty of humanity is a gift to us all, joined our team in 2018.

She's an intuitive photographer, documentary filmmaker, Creative Director for the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts, dedicated to advancing regenerative agriculture practices in Oklahoma. Ragland took up the formal study of photography at the Art Institute of Colorado.

She moved to Los Angeles after photography school, drawn by the city’s creative energy, launching a new chapter of her creative life. She worked with studios, agencies and brands photographing everything from portraits to wildlife.

Ragland, now based in Oklahoma, has traveled the world absorbing the wisdom of the cultures she’s immersed herself in. She intends an aesthetic meant to push boundaries and bridge difference.

On this day in 1984, the Macintosh was introduced by a television commercial titled "1984" during Super Bowl XVIII, directed by Ridley Scott.

The cost of a new Macintosh, $2,495, was equivalent to about $7,300 today. It was a moment that changed history!

He's been a part of S Design for decades, believes most problems can be solved with great design, and that great design is a balance of logic and creativity. He is a master of brand identity development and specializes in creating work that clearly communicates the desired message of our clients to their target audiences.

Tim’s leadership skills aid him as he guides clients through the design process, and also make him a strong member of the S Design team.

In 2009, S Design worked with the Embark team to rebrand the organization.

The back story:
After Oklahoma City’s renaissance period, triggered by Metropolitan Area Projects (MAPS), it became apparent that the METRO Transit systems image was dated and misaligned with the organization’s vision to promote public transportation as a sustainable, safe and friendly travel option.

We started with extensive research, talking to everyone - bus drivers, managers, ticket sales teams, passengers and management. We needed to understand the experiences of everyone involved.

From there, we used human-centered design principles to reimagine the brand. We redesigned the customer experience, devised a new (and easier to decipher) bus route map and executed a rebrand including a new name and logo.
