there’s a lot of frauds out there marketing new skills to get you fearful/riled up that you’re behind. social media managers who are (are more often than not) type a (baddies!) who are susceptible to this (myself included in my early days) to sell you or make you feel codependent on their content. nonethical in my opinion!!!!!

nail these four fundamentals, and then maybe branch out to a few secondary skill branches, then you’re fine. really.

after two weeks of co*chella and st*gecoach, i am tired. i am tired of seeing people 'wowed' at 8*8, rh*de, re*olve and superg**p when these are the 1%'ers of marketing reality. the brands worth studying are often not the ones screaming at you, and i think that's something worth calling out amongst the "wow did you see bieber wearing pimple patches on stage?" conversation.

look at the ones playing the long game, not being the loudest. ❤️ i see you!!!!!!

i’ve spent years absorbing content from people i thought were teaching who were actually warming me up. the tips, frameworks, ‘industry leaders won’t tell you this…’ gimmicky-hooks got me until it led up to a sometimes $500 course on how to do the thing they’re doing. sell on how to sell marketing.

26% of consumers already don’t trust influencer marketing and people are starting to catch on. the difference between advice and a pitch dressed as advice is leaving the post feeling like you got the full idea of something, not primed to browse a landing page.

with a majority of weight oftentimes going to social media feeds, it’s easy to place owned platforms on the back burner. but, it’s important to consider what will happen when the rules change.
