Won today’s game of twin needle thread chicken!!

When doing alterations on highly stretchy fabric like velvet I always use a twin needle to preserve the elasticity of the hem. The stitch creates 2 parallel straight stitches on top and a zigzag stitch on the bottom which allows the stretch!

I took the Jet quilt to EAA - The Spirit of Aviation and met the super friendly pilots and crew, and even got them to autograph their planes!! This is my first time attending and it is one of the neatest events I have ever experienced. Special shoutout F-22 Raptor Demo Team, F-16 Viper Demo Team, for talking with me, and F-15 Louisiana Bayou crew for giving me a special one-on-one tour of their plane!

No way was I spending $400+ on a purpose built longarm light. Black spray paint and zip ties make my budget light bar not look so budget-y. You can do it cheaper by skipping the bottom lights, but for the price I couldn’t pass it up.

Artist statement: I love to challenge myself so I took on a simple pattern of a hand signing "I Love You" and turned it into a statement for disabled, q***r, racial and ethnic communities. I hope to inspire the younger generations, showing there is more to quilts than floral patterned squares and triangles.

Getting professional looking seams without industrial manufacturing machines is difficult, but not impossible on your domestic machines. You just need a double needle!
