It's opening day for the Sioux Center location of Dutch Dogs!

This mural has been in the works for a while, and I've been so excited about it 🐶

It was such an honor to help bring this space to life - and in such a special way! A handful of furry Dutch Dog regulars are represented in the design which makes this mural extra special! If I ever meet one of these dogs, I'll feel like I've met a celebrity.

I didn't post much this year.

Honestly, the past 12 months have been, in a word, bonkers. Full of the greatest ups and the toughest downs.

And really honestly, I had to (and wanted to) focus my energy on things other than posting on Instagram every day.

I spent that time away from social media being with our sweet Henry every day. And starting our own food truck. And working on projects that you maybe didn't get to see pop up in your feed.

I hope I'm better at showing you what I'm working on in 2024 (because there really are fun projects coming up!), but who knows. And I'm trying to be okay with the thought of being a bad social media gal! Because life is sweet and great and crazy around here, and I'm trying to soak it all in 🤍

I pray that your 2023 was filled with moments that were as precious as the ones I experienced this year outside of the digital realm - life is sweet and precious and it moves so so fast (not quite a Ferris Bueller quote, but close).

I hope you had a very merry Christmas with friends and family 🤍 I'll see y'all in 2024!

A little while ago I fell in love with drawing these cute, simple, perfectly imperfect homes 🤍

And so I've just been drawing sweet little houses I fall in love with on Pinterest :)

It's such a relaxing activity when I need a little break. And aren't the imperfections kinda charming

So I completely skipped posting the final product of my Iowa State Fair mural!

This piece felt very much like me - from the colors (yay pink!) to the graphic work. It was so fun to paint again and talk to the people who stopped to say hi 🫶🏻

Hoping for more murals like this in the near future 🤞🏻

Due to tomorrow’s potential icy forecast, we won’t be heading to Dordt in the morning. The Midwest’s weather can just be unpredictable!

BUT Sioux Center’s loss is Orange City’s gain tomorrow.

We’ll be driving just a few blocks over to and serving crêpes from 9am - 11am!

So come grab a morning treat - our crêpes will warm you up while also being the most delicious thing you’ve eaten all week 🫶🏻

So 2023 has been a bit insane to say the least.

With two businesses to manage and a busy little guy to keep up with every day, making content for my Instagram has not been at the top of my priority list.

However, I thought it’d be worth popping in quick to mention that I’ll be painting at the Iowa State Fair again this year! If you happen to be strolling around the fairgrounds on the 10th, 11th, 13th, or 14th, come say hey! I’ll be in the Varied Industries building’s SE atrium ☺️

Where have I been the past 2 months? Just pouring my energy into our second baby - our new dessert food truck !

Josh and I have been working on this food truck dream for about a year now. We’ve had our ups and we’ve had a LOT of downs. BUT that makes it all the more exciting to have it ready for the food truck season!

If you’re in the Des Moines area, we’d love to have you come say hey and have a crêpe! Or book us for a private event! Whatever you feel inclined to do 😉

I’ve gotta admit - 2023 has been a WILD ride already.

Dealing with loss and frustration on top of work and the craziness of starting a food truck (!!!) and regular life is just…something else (and don’t even get me started on being behind on social media - this beast is a full time gig itself).

BUT this year has provided some of the sweetest moments as well. Our sweet baby Henry is growing SO MUCH and is just the biggest blessing. It’s a joy to hang out with him day in and day out.

I’m also working on some exciting things behind the scenes - I’ve finally figured out some of my creative goals for the year. And this design is just a peek into one of those projects. So really 2023 isn’t the worst 😉

Anyway, all that to say hey, I’m still here, and can’t wait to show you some new stuuuuuff 🤍

Fun fact about me: I’m petrified of heights. I’m talking frozen in place, on my hands and knees, nauseously dizzy when I’m higher than 5 feet in the air.

But guess what?

Yesterday I stood 9 feet in the air on a narrow, shaky scaffold without any guard rails to paint a logo at one of the cutest pediatric dentistries (they have a tiny door for their patients and it’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen). And I survived! I was pretty proud of myself - I won’t lie about that.

All fear-conquering aside, it was such a pleasure to work with on this project. They were so kind to welcome me into their space to paint this for their entryway! I’m so thankful for the sweet experience. It was just a blast to be painting again 🤍
