Our client, shares tips to keep our new teen drivers safe during the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer:
1. Buckle Up: Among teen drivers and passengers 16-19 years of age who died in car crashes in 2019, almost half were unrestrained at the time of the crash.
2. Limit Passengers: The likelihood of teen drivers engaging in risky behavior triples when traveling with multiple passengers.
3. Don’t Drive Drowsy: Driving while tired causes more than 44,000 injuries.
4. Don’t Drive Impaired: In 2018, 15% of drivers aged 15-20 who were killed in motor vehicle crashes after drinking and driving were not wearing a seat belt.
5. Avoid Distractions: Texting while driving increases a teen’s risk of crashing by 23 times.
6. Reduce Night Driving: Fatal crash rate for 16-19 year-olds is higher at night.
7. Watch Out for Construction Zones:
At least, three fatalities happen each work day in highway construction areas.
8. Don’t Speed: Between 2015 and 2019, 43% of teen driver and passenger death were speeding related.
The 100 Deadliest Days happen during the period from Memorial Day to Labor Day. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, new teen drivers ages 16-17 are three times as likely as adults to be involved in a deadly crash. Protect your family and teach your new drivers important 🚘
