Can AI Actually Build a Business Website?

As a web designer with over 25 years of experience, I'm very interested in how AI can help streamline the web design and development process. I've tried a bunch of AI tools, and these are some of my observations.

AI website builders have improved quickly over the last couple of years. Tools like Hostinger's AI Website Builder, Wix AI, WordPress.com AI, and Lovable can generate entire websites based on a few prompts about your business.

So, can AI tools actually build a business website? The short answer is yes. In many cases, these tools can even build one in a few minutes. But the better question is this:

Can AI build a website that actually helps your business grow?

That answer is more nuanced. For some businesses, AI website builders are a great starting point. For others, especially businesses focused on lead generation, branding, accessibility, or long-term growth, AI alone is not enough. The reality is that the best business websites in 2026 often combine both AI-powered efficiency and human strategy.
