Today is the day - Ed is retiring! Ed has been part of our team since 1989. He has worked primarily as a designer and ran production in vinyl, digital printing and routing - but has stepped in to wear many hats beyond that. He has had a hand in COUNTLESS signs that have gone through our shop over those years. While many of his tasks were specific sign orders or project requests, he enjoyed working on the special one-off projects or internal odd jobs, too.
He was drawn to the sign industry indirectly because of an art teacher who promised any student in the top 10% of the class that she would find them their first art related job. Ed started out in a different sign shop for a short time and then found his way to VBS.
When asked what the favorite part of his job was, he said, "From famous athletes to the back glass of a pinball game to a pop star's tour bus...I never know what's going to walk through the door."
Some fun facts about Ed... he can fit his entire body through a standard metal coat hanger! He likes fishing and painting models. He also enjoys cooking - and thanks to his Father, he is pretty good at it.
He will surely be missed, but we wish him all the best on this next chapter.
