Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager with a strong background in Offset Printing, expertise in Lean Manufacturing, and a passion for Process Automation. The Production Manager will oversee daily press operations, specifically focusing on offset, digital, and wide format presses, as well as bindery, specialty finishing, and packaging production cells. This role is critical in ensuring that jobs are produced efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards of quality, while continuously driving improvements in production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage Offset, Digital, and Wide Format Press Operations: Ensure efficient and optimal use of printing equipment, with a strong focus on offset printing.
• Coordinate People, Processes, and Technology: Oversee teams and workflows across bindery, finishing, and packaging production cells to ensure seamless job completion.
• Lead Process Automation: Collaborate with internal teams to identify and implement strategies to automate and streamline production processes for increased efficiency.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing Initiatives: Lead continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, improve productivity, and enhance quality across all production areas.
• Implement Preventive Maintenance Programs: Ensure high levels of equipment uptime through a proactive maintenance program that minimizes downtime.
• Meet Production Schedules: Adjust schedules and resources as needed to meet tight client deadlines while balancing production capacity and equipment availability.
• Maintain High-Quality Standards: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure all jobs meet company specifications and customer expectations.
• Ensure Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
1. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE): Improve utilization, performance, and quality of all equipment.
2. Production Labor as a Percentage of Revenue/Budget: Optimize labor costs relative to output and revenue.
3. Quality (Rework): Minimize rework and ensure consistently high-quality production.
4. On-Time Delivery (OTD): Ensure jobs are completed and delivered on or before deadlines.
5. Equipment Uptime: Maximize uptime through efficient preventive maintenance.
Press Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a strong hands-on background in managing Offset Presses, as well as experience with digital and wide format presses. Equipment experience includes:
• Offset Presses: RGMT 970
• Digital Presses: HP Indigo 7900, HP Indigo 12k
• Wide Format Presses: Digitek, HP Latex 3100
• Full Bindery: Cut, stitch, fold & glue, die cut, foil
Software Experience:
• Experience with Presswise or similar print management and workflow automation software is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with production scheduling and job tracking systems is a plus.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in Production Management, specifically within commercial printing, with strong knowledge of Offset, Digital, and Wide Format presses.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership skills to effectively manage production teams and motivate them to meet goals.
• Proficient in using production scheduling software and job tracking systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and resolve production issues.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in printing technology, production management, or a related field is required.
• Additional certifications in production management or printing technologies are preferred.
