This is such an important lesson for

can be very valuable - but you have to stay on top of it. Know the tools and the conversations around them. Using AI imagery is widely panned by consumers who feel for artists who have their work stolen and copied by the tools. And AI can be, well, obvious.

In a world where consumers crave authenticity, don’t try to use AI images to connect with your community on social media. Instead, try:

📸Take your own pictures, or ask your staff to do so, for use in social accounts
📸Capture video content of your process, your people, your engagement with customers.
📸Use tools like Canva if you can’t afford a graphic artist, and avoid using the AI tool - the templates are great.
📸Hire someone who can create your content strategy and help you create content (🙋‍♀️)!

- a diverse media platform for community oncology practices, launched last week and I’m thrilled to assist the team with some of its content geared toward this specific audience - a subset of oncologists who provide patients with cancer care closer to home compared with larger academic healthcare systems might be.

Jumping on the as a way to tell you about why I’m here.

End of August 2024, two days after my 6-year anniversary at my last company, I became unemployed due to my position being eliminated in a reduction in force.

Immediately upon learning about my layoff, and immediately after my separation date, I did three things:
💻Started Jomax Branding & Communications.
🏳️‍🌈Began a fulfilling volunteerism journey at (I always was quick to donate money but never time and I wanted to make donating time a regular habit)
🏳️Embarked on a hellacious full-time, mid-senior level communications role job search. That is still ongoing.

My intention with Jomax? Bridge my corporate experiences to I would still work in my profession while trying to get my feet back under me in a full time role.

But I became jobless during one of the worst job markets in years.

So Jomax became more.

It helped me pay bills and supplement withdrawals from my 401k.

It brought me many new clients who have become friends. Clients with meaningful work and messages.

It connected me to my community in unexpected ways.

It brought courage, resilience and hustle out in me that I didn’t realize existed. Maybe it didn’t, but it does now because of this experience.

I still pursue a more stable income. I’m still job hunting. But Jomax has helped me through one of the most challenging periods of my life and when I do find my footing, I’m never letting it go.

PS - The fifth grader in picture four knew she wanted to be a writer one day. I hope she would be excited and proud to see what we’ve accomplished so far, despite everything personally and professionally that we’ve faced and overcome ❤️

did a great cover story on guns among marginalized groups in Florida, featuring my client . Congrats to owner Chris for having this opportunity to spread an important message of safety!

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from Chris is that the Second Amendment is for everyone. And with increasing hate crimes year over year, and the current societal environment, more LGBTQ+ and other marginalized community members are seeking gun ownership. What I love about Chris’ message is that he encourages ethical and responsible ownership through his fi****ms training while teaching in a safe and inclusive way for people who might find traditional classes and environments unwelcoming.

In Florida, where you don’t have to get a permit or take a class to open carry, Chris is encouraging people to arm themselves with knowledge and safety first, and his six principles really drive that home.

As a pro, I love when I can walk into a client relationship and learn something that changes my perspective. I appreciate the work that Chris does not just to arm people responsibly, but to educate about this aspect of the constitution.
