Curley & Pynn Public Relations A PRNEWS Top 100 Elite Agency, Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management – The Strategic Firm®

In the early 1980s, Joe Curley APR, CPRC, and Roger Pynn APR, CPRC, became fast friends through their affiliation with the Florida Public Relations Association Orlando Area Chapter. Their collaboration as chapter leaders led to an ongoing joke, “Hey, we’re pretty good at this, maybe we should start an agency.”

As they continued to build careers as public relations executives at Orlando-area corp

orations, they could no longer ignore the call to launch their own venture. Leveraging knowledge from years of corporate experience and research conducted to learn what Florida CEOs needed in a public relations team, Joe and Roger successfully landed their first client, Cypress Gardens, and Curley & Pynn was born. Since opening its doors in 1984 as Orlando’s first PR-focused firm, Curley & Pynn has been privileged to employ some of the industry’s brightest public relations practitioners to serve as essential partners for its clients. Early growth was driven by successes, such as award-winning blood drives for the Central Florida Blood Bank (now OneBlood), strategic communications programs for AT&T, grand opening events for Universal Orlando Resort and Hard Rock Café International, and establishment of the Florida High Tech Corridor. Paying homage to its roots as an agency founded by two friends, Curley & Pynn maintains a commitment to building relationships, both with a family-first mindset among internal teams and in its mission to be essential client partners. As well, this commitment manifests in the firm’s focus on professional development. Not only does Curley & Pynn encourage team members to join associations and community organizations, but it has also maintained an internship program for decades from which multiple employees have been hired. While today operating under the ownership of longtime Curley & Pynn team member, Dan Ward, APR, CPRC, the agency remains a staple of the greater Orlando business community serving partners such as Beacon College, LifeLink Foundation, Sarasota Orchestra and more. Founded on a culture of “Five Steps to Professional Success,” Curley & Pynn proudly employs an experienced team of critical thinkers who focus not only on communications strategies, but also on the business operations from which they are rooted. We help nonprofits navigate pivotal moments — from fundraising campaign milestones to leadership transitions to program launches — with smart, strategic communications that builds stakeholder trust, strengthens reputations and propels missions forward.

One year ago today, we proudly supported Universal Orlando Resort as it opened the gates to Epic Universe, marking the first new major theme park to open in Orlando in more than two decades.

For our team, it was more than a grand opening. It was another milestone in a client partnership that began in 1988.

From spokesperson training to opening-week media moments, our team was proud to work alongside Universal Orlando’s outstanding PR and corporate communications teams to help bring this historic moment to life. We’ve had the privilege of supporting every Universal Orlando Resort park opening since 1990, and Epic Universe added an unforgettable new chapter to that story.

Congratulations to our friends and partners at Universal Orlando Resort on one Epic year. We’re proud to have been part of the ride. 🌍

A board member who can explain why they volunteer.
A donor who can share what inspired them to give.
A staff member who can tell the story behind the numbers.
A supporter who can make the mission feel personal.

These voices are powerful. The challenge is knowing how and when to engage them, and how to align them with your core message.

Jackie Kelvington shares how in her latest blog. Read it here:

Welcome to Curley & Pynn, Ella! ⭐️

Ella recently earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Rollins College and is now on an accelerated path to earn her MBA with a concentration in marketing next spring.

Outside of work, Ella enjoys reading, cooking, trying new coffee spots, cheering on University of Tennessee football and listening to Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, Miley Cyrus and ’80s rock (music to Dan Ward, APR, CPRC’s ears!).

We’re so glad to have you with us, Ella.

ICYMI: Ted Lasso is coming back for Season 4, which means it’s officially time to again. ⚽

It also gives us the perfect excuse to revisit this blog from C&P Senior Strategist Sarah Kelliher, APR, on what Ted Lasso can teach us about internal communications.

Spoiler: It’s not just about optimism, biscuits or a handwritten sign above the door.

It’s about making sure your team hears important news directly, understands the mission and feels included in the moments that shape your organization... all pointers inspired by Coach Lasso himself.
