Lake Life

For days a large Heron has sat on her eggs in the middle of our Neighbors pier.
Oddly, this morning when I went out on the porch, a white bird - Great Egret was nestled upon her eggs. My thoughts, did she abandon her eggs and this other Nester intervene!? I came back inside, and then heard loud squawks, I know the sound well. It was a Heron or Sandhill Crane. As I walked to the window, I saw the white bird- Great Egret with its long orange legs fly away, so I went back on the porch to see and there were the two eggs all alone.
But no Heron in sight. I went and shared what I saw with Chris and then heard a squawk again. So, my interest I went back out on the porch to see. And two smaller
Sandhill Crane were on the pier, one hovering over the eggs. I am hoping she is there to save, she stands for a couple minutes and then gently lowered her body onto the two eggs. Yay!🥰😁
Now I don't know if they are 100% her eggs, or if she is just babysitting. But I have prayed for them since the first day I saw the original Nester.
On the day they were layed someone had run over a Sandhill Crane in another area of town 💔 and had posted it on another wall. 😢
I hope these two make it. 🙏
