WHO the $ #% #$ is that?
A person is not just a name, title, date, or work history. WHO someone is goes deeper than that.
This is not exhaustive, but as our WHOists learn the WHO Theory™, we are working through the core facets that help make a person truly knowable:
Emotional - What they feel, fear, love, carry, grieve, hope for, and are moved by.
Relational - Who they are to others: parent, child, friend, mentor, rival, partner, neighbor.
Reputational - How others experience, describe, remember, trust, or misunderstand them.
Educational - What they studied, learned, mastered, struggled to learn, or taught themselves.
Geographic - Where they are from, where they have lived, where they belong, and what places shaped them.
Career / Vocational - What they did, built, practiced, contributed, earned from, or gave their working life to.
Cultural - Heritage, language, customs, traditions, class, community, food, music, rituals, and inherited worldview.
Familial / Lineage - Family role, ancestry, generational inheritance, bloodline, adoption, household story, and legacy.
Spiritual / Philosophical - Beliefs, doubts, values, moral compass, worldview, faith, meaning, and relationship to the unknown.
Intellectual - How they think, reason, question, solve problems, argue, imagine, and make sense of the world.
Creative - What they make, design, write, sing, cook, craft, invent, decorate, perform, or express.
Social - How they move in groups, communities, clubs, churches, workplaces, neighborhoods, and public life.
Behavioral - Habits, routines, mannerisms, humor, temperament, discipline, quirks, and repeated patterns.
Physical / Embodied - Appearance, health, movement, athleticism, disability, voice, style, presence, and physical lived experience.
Material / Possessional - What they owned, kept, collected, wore, drove, cherished, saved, or left behind.
Historical / Temporal - The era they lived through, major events they witnessed, age/stage of life, and generational context.
Aspirational - Dreams, ambitions, unfinished plans, promises, goals, and the person they were trying to become.
Moral / Character - Courage, loyalty, honesty, sacrifice, selfishness, generosity, resilience, weakness, and choice under pressure. (one of my personal favorite angles)
Experiential - What happened to them: journeys, traumas, adventures, milestones, losses, wins, and turning points.
Legacy / Impact - What remains because they existed: people changed, work left behind, lessons passed on, memory carried forward.
What other ways do you use to define WHO someone is? Or maybe even who you are?
