💙💛 Unite for Good in Action – Rotary District 6980 🇯🇲

I was grateful for the opportunity to represent Rotary District 6980 in Montego Bay in support of our district’s relief efforts.

Through the collective efforts of our clubs and partners, we:
• Provided $10,000+ in financial support
• Coordinated 15,000 meals for families in need
• Shipped pallets of relief supplies
• Deployed Starlink systems to restore communication
• Secured laptops and equipment to support rebuilding efforts

None of this happens without people.

🙏 We are deeply grateful to District Governor Dick Harris, Rotary leadership, and clubs across District 6980; the Rotary Club of Orlando, St. Cloud Rotary Club, Orlando Impact Club, Christian Tech Center of Longwood, The Villages clubs, PS Freight, ROAR volunteers, and community partners who stepped up without hesitation.

🇯🇲 Special thanks to our on-the-ground team in Jamaica:
President Lemar James and the Rotary Club of Montego Bay; Councillor Richard Vernon, Mayor of Montego Bay; Joy Clarke, Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce; MP Nekeisha Burchell (Southern St. James); St. James Police Superintendent (Chief) Eron Samuels; and the incredible Black River Hospital team in Savanna-la-Mar.

🌱 As recovery continues, Phase 1 remains active as we look ahead to Phase 2 and the collective support of our entire district.

🌍🇯🇲 Together for Jamaica – Let’s Bring Hope, Light & Nourishment! 💛💚🖤

Friends and family, we have an incredible opportunity to come together and help families in Jamaica who’ve been devastated by recent storms.

Our Rotary District 6980 Disaster Relief Committee, alongside Disaster Aid USA, Ground Force Humanitarians, and Samaritan’s Purse, is coordinating shipments of food, water filters, medical supplies, and essentials directly to communities in need. Families have lost everything — but together, we can help restore hope. 🙏

💪 3 Powerful Ways to Help

1️⃣ Nutrition Packets – Feeding Families in Crisis
🍲 These high-density meal packets provide immediate nourishment for families in shelters and damaged areas.
• The Rotary Club of Orlando gave $5,000, providing 10,000 meals through NoChildHungry.org.
• The Rotary Club of St. Cloud added $3,500 toward meals and supplies.

💡 Goal: Raise another $7,000 to reach $12,000 total — enough to send 30,000 meals at just $0.40 each!

2️⃣ Solar-Powered Lights with Phone Chargers – $25 Each
💡 LuminAID lights help families stay safe and connected in homes without power.

3️⃣ Water Filtration Systems – $35 Each
🚰 Sawyer Filter Safe Harbor Florida systems give families clean, safe drinking water.

🌿 Additional Supplies Needed

We’re collecting items to ship to Montego Bay, where local churches will distribute them directly to families:

🧃 Food & Water: canned goods, rice, pasta, peanut butter, bottled water, electrolyte drinks
🧽 Cleaning & Sanitation: bleach, disinfectant wipes, detergent, soap, gloves, trash bags
🧻 Hygiene Items: toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, feminine care products, towels
🍼 Baby Care: diapers, wipes, baby formula, baby wash, rash cream
⛑️ Medical & First Aid: kits, bandages, OTC meds, gloves, masks
💡 Shelter & Tools: tarps, ropes, duct tape, flashlights, batteries, generators
👕 Clothing & Linens: lightweight clothing, socks, blankets

Samaritan’s Purse is also setting up a hospital in Jamaica and urgently needs medical supplies and funding.

✈️ Planes, Pilots & Shipping

Our partner Operation AirDrop is flying supplies into Montego Bay — but more planes and volunteer pilots are urgently needed!

✈️ Aircraft needed: PC-12, Twin Air, Citation, or similar
📋 Requirements: U.S. Customs sticker receipt for reentry + pilot contact info

🍽️ Volunteer Opportunity – Meal Packing Event

Join us for a fun, hands-on event as we pack meals to send to Jamaica! 💪

This is a community-wide event — open to everyone! Bring your friends, family, church groups, and high school students (service hours available).
