To celebrate 80 years of JBL, the TIG Global PR blog just published every Billboard #1 from 1946 to 2025, and scrolling through it is a whole experience. The Macarena at #1 in 1996. Flo Rida, twice. Nickelback. You'll see.
But beyond the nostalgia trip, there's a genuinely interesting argument about why audio quality isn't just an audiophile obsession. It's the difference between hearing music and feeling it, and every era's technology shaped the sound of every era's hits.

Plus: JBL's new L100 Classic 80 speaker, limited to 800 numbered pairs and shipped in a wooden crate, is a pretty beautiful way to mark the milestone.

For years, I’ve been writing stories inspired by the Florida Keys, Bahamas, and the Caribbean, the incredible life out on the reef. Between my time in the Navy and all the hours I’ve spent diving, the ocean has always been a big part of who I am, and it shows up in my books.
