Turns out running a city is fourth grade level work.

Last week, Blue Door Consulting's own Leah Van Rooy volunteered with Junior Achievement at the BizTown program in Appleton. More than 70 students from Janet Berry Elementary spent the day running a fully interactive city. Students stepped into leadership roles across the community with some leading meetings as CEOs, while others took the reins of city council.

One minute they are designing billboards and voting on referenda. Next they are solving problems like seasoned professionals and dawning "I VOTED" stickers. What makes the program so impressive is how quickly students step into responsibility and collaboration.

Thank you to Junior Achievement of Wisconsin and the many volunteers who help bring BizTown to life for thousands of students each year!

That was the phrase our team learned last week, where our very own Brenda Haines, Madelyn Westra, Caitlyn Phillips, and Kayla Lulloff attended and hosted a table at the Women’s Fund Power of the Purse luncheon in Oshkosh. The annual event continues to bring people together in support of improving the lives of women and families throughout many communities.

Keynote speaker Catherine Price, best-selling author of "How to Break Up with Your Phone" and "The Amazing Generation," challenged attendees to think differently about the role technology plays in our daily lives. Her remarks focused on creating healthier relationships with our devices and being more intentional about where our attention goes.

In an age where attention is often treated like currency, her message was a timely reminder that some of the best investments still happen face to face. Thank you to the Women’s Fund for bringing people together around supporting where it matters!

Some events raise funds. Others raise awareness and strengthen a community.

Nova Counseling Service's inaugural Gala was built around a turf-sport inspired theme centered on the male recovery journey. The evening brought together heartfelt alumni stories along with an unforgettable keynote from former Green Bay Packer Tony Mandarich. More importantly, it brought people together around a shared belief that recovery is possible and support matters.

Our team collaborated closely with Nova Counseling Services to help bring this first-year event from concept to kickoff in just three months. The result was an evening that exceeded attendance and fundraising expectations while helping establish a strong foundation for years to come.

We're grateful to have partnered with an organization committed to equipping men and families with the tools and support needed to navigate recovery. Huge congratulations to the Nova team for creating an event that turned awareness into action!

Growing a movement takes more than planting seeds.

When Wild Ones set out to plan the next phase of their growth, they called on Consultants Sarah Zimmerman and Leah Van Rooy to lead a design thinking workshop. This experience focused on goal-setting and actionable work-planning for the next five years. As a volunteer-driven organization with chapters across the country, much of their impact happens at the local level through education and hands-on community engagement. For that reason, clear alignment becomes essential in planning.

Knowing that, we facilitated a workshop that translated big-picture goals into practical-tools that their volunteer-led chapters can use to take action in their own communities.

We're grateful for the opportunity to partner with such a passionate team and support the meaningful work they're doing in communities across the country!
