What If You Could Make Consumers Want Regenerative

There’s a widening gap between the people who grow our food and the people who buy it — and it’s costing regenerative agriculture the momentum it deserves.

Consumers talk about health, longevity, and clean ingredients.

Producers talk soil, carbon, and practices. Both sides want the same outcome, but they’re speaking different languages.

That disconnect doesn’t have to be permanent.

In our upcoming webinar, “Producers talk soil – consumers talk health,” we’re breaking down how to translate regenerative practices into the value consumers actually hear, understand, and act on.

🗓 Thursday, Feb 12th at 4 PM EST

How Do You Explain WHY You're in Regen?

That's a tough one. First, there's the explanation of regen, which is a little different for everyone. The basic principles are the same, but the practices are site, crop, and person specific.

Then, there's the explanation of WHY you're using those principles to lead your life. You know in your gut exactly why, but that's not understandable to your uncle, or your banker, or even your neighboring farmer.

What if you had a set of "cheat sheets" to set you up for clear explanations?

That's why we developed the "Regenerative Producer Marketing Templates." A set of ready-to-use templates that help you tell a clear, honest story about your work.

Who it’s for
This guide is for farmers, ranchers, soil health educators, small regenerative brands, and local food producers who want to communicate their work in a simple, human way.

What problem It solves
Most regenerative producers know their work matters, but they struggle to explain it in a way that everyday people can understand.

Consumers want to know the value behind your practices, but they don’t have time for long explanations or scientific terms.

This guide removes the overwhelm by giving you a simple structure, clear prompts, and fill‑in‑the‑blank sections that help you share your purpose, your practices, and your impact in a way that builds trust fast.

Why it’s worth it
This guide saves you hours of trying to figure out what to say and how to say it.

It helps you turn your work into a clear, honest story that builds trust, attracts the right customers, and strengthens your brand.

You walk away with a complete narrative you can use everywhere—without hiring a writer, spending weeks drafting, or guessing what consumers want to hear.

Comment "my why" and I'll send you the link.

The Future of Ag - Is It Really Commodities?

There has been a lot of discussion about the future of ag, how farmers are losing money, how small farms are going under….

But when we look at what farmers are growing, what kind of future do we see? We see farmers dependent on subsidies to even break even (and maybe in the red in 2025). This isn’t a sustainable business model. Sooo…if you’re a farmer, how would you look at the future?

Why don’t more farmers convert acreage to specialty crops? The revenue per acre for a specialty crop is often 3X-10X a commodity crop (without taking into account subsidies).

Labor is a big concern for specialty crop growers. It accounts for 38% of total cash expenses compared to 13% for commodity crops, according to the USDA Economic Research Service. Even with those high labor costs, tomatoes, greens, and berries are still WAY more profitable than any commodity crop.

Here's a link to the complete posting on LinkedIn: The table that compares revenue for one acre of conventional crops vs specialty crops is enlightening.

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/jackie-smith-512a3535_the-future-of-ag-is-it-really-commodities-share-7386578215877877760-PAbi?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAdzH54BUhYiA9al6ACGqYmp1WMy4rNmvkE

Revenue/acre (no subsidy) conventional crop = $500-$900 (not enough to keep the farm, pay the taxes, or feed the family

Revenue/acre specialty crops (tomatoes, lettuce, berries) = $5,000-$20,000

Is there even a question?

Let’s do the math for converting only 10 acres to specialty crops

Revenue x 10 acres = $5,000-$9,000 or $50,000- $200,000

Is it worth it to consider exploring “new/old” crops to future-proof your farm?

This year, there is pretty much no market for soybeans at all. And how will that affect the soybean/corn rotation next year?

Fall in Michigan Means Apples

I have a bushel on my counter. Given to me by a friend because they had such a great harvest this year. No chemicals, just nutrients, water, and an occasional well-placed pole to hold up a limb.

This afternoon will be applesauce canning time. Or maybe I'll put it in the freezer. I've already canned enough in the last two weeks. Some things are better canned, but applesauce can go either way.

What do you think?
