Owensville man charged in stabbing death, assaults, held without bond

Henry William Lorton, 36, of Owensville, was arrested at 10:20 a.m. on Sept. 14 by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office on allegations of fatally stabbing Trey R. Johnson, 21, of Owensville, and wounding three others. Lorton is being held on a no-bond warrant in the Franklin County Adult Detention Facility for the incident that occurred on Sept. 13 in the 100 block of N. First Street.

Effort will be made to expand list of Code Red recipients

HERMANN – Hermann’s city administrator last week said an effort will be made to have more residents receive alerts such as the recent one regarding a boil-water order. Only a small amount of the potential recipients received that alert.

BREAKING: One dead, three injured Sunday morning on First Street

Three were injured and one was fatally wounded Sunday morning, Sept. 13, in an incident that occurred in the 100 block of N. First Street in Owensville.
Police Chief Scott Griffith was at the scene around 9:40 a.m. on Sunday as his department and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in the active investigation.
“The call came in around 1:30 a.m. as a possible stabbing on First Street,” Griffith said. “We are looking at a suspect list now. There were four victims, and there was one death. It is being investigated as a homicide and has been turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Drug and Crime Task Force.”
Griffith said the public is not in danger.
“We are pursuing leads and have a person of interest. It is still an active investigation. It’s still an active crime scene,” Griffith said.
The other three wounded parties are being treated for injuries at a local hospital.
Griffith hopes to release more information on Monday morning.

Warnings continue during extreme heat in Gasconade County

GASCONADE COUNTY — Gasconade County residents are encouraged to take precautions during periods of extreme heat and check on neighbors who may have difficulty getting around.

Gasconade County Emergency Management Director Clyde Zelch said residents in the Hermann area may seek relief from the heat at the Gasconade County Courthouse. In the Owensville area, the Catholic church, Walmart and library are among the locations available to those needing a place to cool down.
