Had the chance to spend some time at Glenroy Preserve recently, and it was one of those reminders that some of the best things in our community are cared for by people.

As I walked the trails and listened to the birds, I couldn’t help but think about the organizations, staff, and volunteers who work behind the scenes to preserve places like this for all to enjoy. Their work often goes unnoticed, but it makes a real difference.

If you’ve been looking for a real reason to go outside, meet great people, or give back in your own way, volunteering here is a great place to start. A few hours can have a lasting impact… not just on the community, but on you as well 💚

The Oxford students head into graduation 🎓

There’s a lot of pressure placed on young people to have everything figured out at this stage of life.. but most of the important things aren’t figured out ahead of time. They’re learned through experience, through people, and through showing up.

To the graduating class: you don’t need it all figured out yet. Just keep taking the next step 🚶‍♂️😉

And to the community… what’s something you wish someone had told you when you were starting out? I’d love to hear it!!!

I recently joined Oxford SILO for a Delivering Hope ride-along to see the work behind the scenes 🚐

It’s a coordinated, consistent effort to support friends, families, seniors, and individuals in our community. Volunteers pack groceries 🥫, load the van 📦, and follow the routes to deliver food directly to friends facing barriers like transportation or health challenges. Every step matters. Every stop has purpose.

What stood out most was the people who show up to make it happen 🤝

SILO’s Delivering Hope program turns help directly into action 🚛

💙 “It reinforces confidence…”

That was Amadeo’s answer when I asked why he teaches aerial dance at The Garage Community and Youth Center

He learned aerial dance while attending university in Colombia 🇨🇴 and now shares that skill through free classes. Programs like this aren’t just about fun… they help kids gain confidence, meet positive role models, and discover what they’re capable of 🤸‍♀️🎪🧑‍🩰

Know someone who might enjoy aerial dance? Tag a parent or share this post! 🙌

"Hunger isn’t always noticeable..."

We recently caught up with Autum, a local figure skater and incredible volunteer at Oxford SILO in Oxford. She volunteers her time helping "Delivering Hope" program, which delivers groceries directly to families' homes removing transportation and accessibility barriers for friends.

We believe meeting real people and hearing their stories is what builds a stronger communities

Earth Day in Oxford was more than just a cleanup 🌍✨

Last month, Oxford Mainstreet, Inc. and students from Helping Hands celebrated Earth Day with local volunteers. They helped clean alleys, pull weeds, plant flowers, and take care of the downtown spaces we all share 🌻🧤

What made the day special wasn’t just the work getting done… it was seeing young people genuinely engaged, working together, competing to collect the most trash, and taking pride in their community 🏆💪

Moments like this remind me that strong communities are built across generations. You had students volunteering alongside longtime community members, local organizations, and residents who all care deeply about Oxford. That kind of connection matters 🤝❤️

Seeing the next generation step into leadership and stewardship roles like this gives me a lot of hope for where this town is headed. Oxford is in good hands! Let's show these students some love in the comments!!!👇

Food insecurity is often invisible right here in Southern Chester County. 🌲❤️
I recently spent time with Oxford SILO’s Delivering Hope program, which brings groceries directly to neighbors who face transportation, health, or scheduling barriers. They are currently serving over 330 households (1,800+ people!) every single year!!!
As one volunteer beautifully put it: “We don’t just deliver food. We deliver consistency, connection, and care”
📦🤝

Have you ever volunteered with a local delivery program, or are you looking for ways to get involved nearby this season? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇

Today we joined the Walk for Wellness hosted by New London Counseling Center at Glenroy Preserve, and it was an incredible turnout! 🌳🚶‍♂️

Megann shared that this was the 3rd year of the walk, centered around raising awareness for mental health while also encouraging people to take care of their own mental well-being. It was such a beautiful day filled with families, friends, conversations, and community connection. Events like this are an important reminder that mental health affects every area of life… not just individuals, but families and the wider community as a whole. It was great seeing so many people come to support one another and spend time outdoors in such a peaceful setting 😌

Be sure to check out the amazing work being done by the New London Counseling Center, and if you haven’t visited the Glenroy Preserve yet… it’s truly a beautiful experience! ✨🌲

⛳️ Events like this are a great reminder of what makes Oxford special ✨

Tomorrow, the Oxford Area School District PTO will be hosting their Mother-Son Par-Tee at Timber Falls Mini Golf, bringing local families together for a fun evening of mini golf, food, games, and connection

We also want to encourage anyone who has been thinking about volunteering or becoming more involved locally to reach out. Community events, nonprofits, and family programs only happen because people are willing to step up and support them.

A stronger community is built one relationship, one event, and one volunteer at a time.
