A true honor to shadow Dr. Cynthia Erdman-Herrera, Vice Chancellor of Institutional Effectiveness at Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD), a visionary, trailblazing, and empowering leader shaping the future of education in our region.

Through this Ventura County Leadership Academy Immersion Activity, I gained a deeper understanding of how institutional planning, equity initiatives, and data-informed strategies directly impact student success and open pathways of opportunity for thousands across Ventura County. This experience reaffirmed that true leadership is defined not by titles, but by purpose, impact, and service to the community.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Herrera for sharing her wisdom and values, to Veronica Hardy for her support and coordination, to the VCCCD staff for their warm welcome, and to Pattie Braga for her guidance and leadership with VCLA Cohort ###I.

Leadership rooted in equity, vision, and purpose transforms lives and communities, and education is the foundation for lasting change and a stronger Ventura County.

Proud to share that Mexicana Emprende 2025 has celebrated the graduation of 23 entrepreneurs, launching 18 new pre-ventures and taking 3 established businesses to the next level across Ventura and Santa Barbara County.

It’s been a true privilege to lead and mentor this program for three consecutive years, in partnership with the Consulado de México en Oxnard and an incredible network of regional allies. Each cohort reminds me that when entrepreneurship is grounded in culture, equity, and opportunity, its impact goes far beyond the individual, it uplifts entire communities.

This program is more than a course, it’s an international initiative led by Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME) and implemented through Mexican Consulates around the world. It brings together education, personalized mentorship, and strategic access to help entrepreneurs turn vision into viable businesses, and existing businesses into sustainable growth.

Thank you to the sponsors, families, guest mentors, and community partners who made this possible. Your belief in these women and in what they’re building helped turn momentum into measurable impact.

More insights, success stories, and program results to come. Stay tuned, this movement is just getting started.

This mazing place reflecting a full journey: a clear thought, a bold idea, a goal with purpose, and the commitment to bring it to life.

What starts as a vision becomes reality through strategy, process, persistence, and people. It’s the process of turning ideas into action, aligning the right people with the right tools, and trusting in the journey that builds lasting change.

Surrounding yourself with others who believe in the process and execute with heart can accomplish extraordinary things!

Isn’t this a beauty? The kind of sunset that makes you pause without trying. No filters, no rush, just the sky doing what it does best.

Grateful for quiet moments that remind us how much peace can come from simply being present. Behind every calm harbor is a world in motion. And we’re all more connected than we think.

I’m ready to embark on a new and meaningful journey as a member of Cohort ###I of the Ventura County Leadership Academy (VCLA). Grateful for the opportunity to grow, connect, and contribute alongside a community of dedicated local leaders, diving deeper into the systems, people, and possibilities that shape the future of Ventura County.

My decision to apply was truly inspired by the community-driven leadership of past alumni Alondra Gaytan and Amanda Fagan thank you both for igniting the spark and motivating me to take action. I’m also deeply grateful to Pattie Braga and the VCLA Board of Directors for continuing to foster meaningful relationships across sectors through a program rooted in civic responsibility, collaboration, and collective impact.

Leadership begins with awareness and grows through connection, service, and shared purpose. Let's have fun!
