Are you handing out a single, or no business cards to potential business? You are making your card way to valuable.
If you don't have business cards, you are fooling yourself. Think how many contacts you have lost in your phone. That is at least how many contacts potential customers have. Guarantee they have less business cards than they do contacts. Not only that but a business card is a physical item in their hands. How many customers do you have to lose to make not having business cards too costly?
Give out at least three business cards to each potential customer you interact with and ask them to give the extras to others they think may want your service. If they do know someone, they will think of them right away and have a Pavlov moment when they see them next. The weakest referral is always stronger than the strongest advertisement, and costs much less.
