NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK - The Children’s Advocacy Center of Paris (CAC)

The CAC is an amazing organization that has helped so many children in our community! Their mission is to promote hope, healing and justice to child victims of crime in Lamar and Red River Counties. They have helped me learn more about the growing issue of child abuse within our community, and we truly need to keep spreading this awareness. They are also proud supporters of the United Way of Lamar County!

Every February around Valentine’s Day, the CAC hosts a fundraising event called the Sweetheart Soirée. Due to COVID-19, they are not able to put on this event this year, so instead they will be having an online auction on Friday, February 12th at 9:00 A.M. and will end on Saturday, February 13th at 9:00 P.M.!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT POST - Vibez Nutrition

For our next business, we want to shine our spotlight on a business that is fairly new and is run by some amazing folks! They just recently won a customer service award from Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, and we are proud of them for their hard work and dedication! Please make sure to stop by and support them, and please show them some love!!

Vibez Nutrition was built to bring the community of Paris and beyond a healthier way of living! The Vibe of feeling welcome, knowing what you are consuming, the light of Jesus and encouragement are some of the things the crew at Vibez gives! Results are key to what we do. Those results look different for everyone! Whether someone wants to come in for a smile, wants/need to lose weight, gain healthy weight, build confidence, be an entrepreneur, get lifted with inspiration, gain some energy or just want to be healthy period, Vibez is the place for all of that, plus more!

We cherish the moments of being a part of the people in our community and their families, people passing through Paris or 1st timers in a Nutrition Club! The cool part is Nutrition is for EVERYONE, and it is awesome to be able to provide that!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT POST - Chick-fil-A Paris - Moises & Cheyenne Hernandez

I remember the day I heard Paul Allen ask a crowd, “Are your chicken needs not met here in Paris, TX?” Well Paul, they are now!! The wait is almost over... Chick-Fil-A will open this Thursday, February 4th here in Paris, TX!! I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know the Owners, Moises & Cheyenne! This couple brings a breath of fresh air to our community, and they have so much to offer! While I went to visit them this morning and wish them good luck on their grand opening, they were looking for opportunities to serve the community! What a wonderful outlook Moises & Cheyenne have, and this is the same optimism I hope to keep spreading throughout our community!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT POST - The Branding Studio - Kelsie Glass

I’ve recently had the opportunity to get to know more about Kelsie Glass! Kelsey is an ambitious young entrepreneur that has had her eyes set on opening up her own graphic design business, and she’s done so well!! We are so lucky to have such great talent in our own backyard! Please show her some love!

Who is Kelsey Glass?

Visual Storyteller. Mama to two perfect little girls. Graphic Designer. Foodie. Entrepreneur. Travel Ju**ie. Libra. Writer. Reader. Dog Mom. Lover of all things creative.

Kelsie started taking pictures in November of 2011 & that journey ended up evolving into much more. January of 2020, she decided it was time to take the plunge, and this is where The Branding Studios (TBS) was born. TBS offers products & services geared towards helping small businesses build their brand. Graphic design, marketing materials, promo items, they do it all. TBS also just celebrated their 1st birthday last week & Kelsie was ecstatic when she was asked to be the next spotlight for Empower Paris. Kelsie said, “There’s no doubt in my mind this project will bring so much positivity to the Paris community & I am excited to be apart of it!”

FIRST SPOTLIGHT POST - Melody Shannon!

Melody Shannon is an excellent example of someone who is an asset to our community! She is someone who has accomplished so much and at such a young age! I’m very proud to shine the spotlight on Ms. Melody Shannon! Please show her some love!

Melody Shannon graduated from North Lamar High School in 2018. She attended OSU-OKC and graduated with an AAS in Surveying Technology in 2019. She also graduated from Paris Junior College with an AS in General Studies. Melody also graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce in December of 2020.

This young lady accepted a position with the Texas Department of Transportation in the Paris District office. Her long term goal is to become a Registered Professional Land Surveyor.

Melody has lived in Lamar County her entire life, and she loves this area, and is so proud to have been raised here. As she enters the workforce, she hopes to be an asset to the community. So many community members, teachers, family, and friends have positively impacted her life. Melody is so thankful, and plans to do all she can to contribute to the success of Paris, Texas and Lamar County.
