Today, we’re often glued to screens, scrolling (and scrolling…) for inspiration. Here at Farm, we try our best to stay tapped into the physical world, finding inspiration in print media. We find a lot of value in looking through books, magazine, or even in the quirky sites that we stubble upon during our daily grind. Because, let’s face it, some of the coolest ideas don’t come from pixels.

Keep your eyes peeled. Inspiration is hiding in plain sight, just waiting for us to notice. The most profound ideas sprout from the simplest moments.

RESTAURANT logos 4/4.

“There is no place to hide”. A logo is typically front and center. On full display. Left to be vulnerable and scrutinized. That can be scary, but those are the very things that give a logo the ability to have the most impact for a brand to stand out. So, be intentional and consider ALL the details. They will not go unnoticed.

RESTAURANT logos 3/3.

There are many schools of thought on what makes a good logo. Over the years we have found ourselves being consistent with these design tenets

SIMPLE: A logo should be created with simplicity in mind. Avoid unnecessary elements if they don’t contribute in a meaningful way.
DISTINCTIVE: The function of a logo is about being unique and memorable so that it’s easy to recall in the consumer's mind. Be bold and provocative but practice restraint when necessary.
FAMILIAR: Stay topical with your logo style to hint at what a consumer can expect. As an example, a fine dining experience might feel more elevated with classic elements, whereas a fast-casual may be more playful and disruptive.
FLAVOR: Balance is important with a logo composition. Not only its visual weight, but ‘flavoring’ the style between the logomark and logotype is just as key. All elements should borrow or complement each other in some manner.

RESTAURANT logos 2/3. We like to think we don’t have a specific style or even a rigid process when we approach our logo designs. Rather, we let the insight gathering we have with our clients to provide informed steps to guide our actions. Simply, no two clients are the same as they all have different beliefs and desire to attract consumers that are right for them.
