How are you showing up for your spouse?
For a long time, I believed I was all in. But looking back, I realize my version of “all in” looked a lot different than it does today.
The truth is, not everyone is designed to be an entrepreneur, and not everyone is designed to be married to one either.
Building a business takes long hours, unpredictable moments, and a deep level of passion, grit, persistence, and hard work.
My version of support used to look like working my day jobs, raising our kids, and helping with the business whenever I had the chance. When the business hit hard seasons or stressful moments, Jon carried most of that weight himself.
At the same time, Jon was always cheering me on in the careers I believed I was building. Looking back now, what we really needed was for me to be fully invested in what we were building together. Have I mentioned that I thought I was?!
Being supportive doesn’t necessarily mean working side by side in the business like we do now. But it does mean your spouse knows you’re standing with them—encouraging them, backing them up, and working as a team rather than pulling in different directions.
So here’s something to think about as the new week begins:
No matter what kind of work you or your spouse do; are you truly showing up for them?
Are you helping move the vision forward—or standing in the way?
