I see it all the time. You spend weeks (or a good chunk of money) building a beautiful new website, you finally hit publish, and then... crickets.

A gorgeous website doesn’t do you a damn bit of good if your ideal clients can’t actually find it, or if they bounce the second they land on it because they can’t figure out what you do.

Buying a house and moving in, running a small website design business, being a local City Councilor… and everything that comes with these privileges has got me a tad worn and frazzled.

I’m grateful we still have some sunshine and to drink my weird espresso tonic on my porch.

Asking for Google reviews can feel awkward as hell! But if you are a small business, they are the holy grail of local SEO and building trust with new customers.

The truth is, your clients want to leave you a glowing review. They just get busy, forget, or stare at a blank screen wondering what to write.

If you want to actually get reviews, you have to put on the “big ask” hat and make the process completely frictionless for them.

Summer is officially knocking on the door. And if you are planning on taking some well-deserved time off to go on vacation, spend time outdoors, or just exist without your laptop, your website needs to be ready.

A summer-ready website should communicate your boundaries, showcase your current offers, filter out the client fits, and most importantly close deals… all while you’re offline.

If you want to do a quick DIY audit today, here’s my own website tune-up checklist:

❶ Update images - Swap out any images that feel off brand or out of date.

❷ Pricing & offerings - Make sure your site actually reflects what you are selling in this season of your work.

❸ The ‘Bouncer’ check - Test your contact page. Is it protecting your peace or just inviting vague questions into your inbox?

❹ Check for broken links - Click all your buttons. Do they actually go to the right place?

❺ Lead magnet / Freebie - is it working for you? Is it aligned with your current goals?

If reading that list just gave you a spike of anxiety because you know your site needs work but you absolutely do not have the time to do it... take a deep breath.
