So today was one of those days that no business owner likes to talk about but is truly a real thing. It is also one of those tough pills to swallow. So I got a call from a customer the belt had broken on his van so I get out there tonight with a new belt and it definitely is shredded. Got all of it out and started putting the new belt on well after a couple of attempts I started to get the belt tensioner where I needed it to be to get the belt on and the nut snaps off of it. It is never fun telling a customer that you are going to have to come back the next day to finish thier vehicle but when all parts stores are closed there is no other choice. It will be fixed tomorrow today was not a complete win but never give up and keep on pushing. You can’t win every single battle but you can definitely win the war by not giving up and digging deep and keeping your head up. Lots of people like to show the good side of business but I figured I’d give a small taste of the bad side also

Well the 2000 celica project is done. Complete coil over all the way around front and rear. Lower control arms on both sides of the front front sway at endlinks front ball joints outter tie rod ends on both sides replaced passenger front wheel well cover replaced fog light bulbs engine oil and filter change transmission filter and oil change and coolant flush and fill. Lots of parts were oem parts so getting 23 year old bolts out was fun but they were no match for me. Only 1 bolt broke coming out. I call that a win. The car rides and drives better than it has in a very long time and hopefully a very happy customer

Day 1 of 2000 celica freshen up. Got rear suspension rebuilt got passenger side front suspension rebuilt including control arms ball joints struts tie rods and sway bar endlinks. Passenger side is almost complete tomorrow I have about 1 hr left in that tomorrow just do all the fluids and it’s done

It’s been a busy past couple of days. Brake job on a Kia van start inspecting trans problems on a ford edge. Now starting on a big job a Toyota celiac shocks. And struts front and rear flush all fluids. Rebuild front suspension install new fender wells. This is the stuff that I love

I have some of the best customers. I swear. Had a job tonight and of course all of my head lamps and flashlights were dead (because why would I need them at night) so he came out and held my phone with the flash light on for me. While I finished up. We are growing 1 customer at a time. And word of mouth is my best friend

All I can say is my hats off to all that attempt to become a small business owner. This just about sums it up…..
The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.
Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.
You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All while being a puppy parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.
It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.
Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!
And know that 2022 prices are not 2023 prices.
