This past Thursday, I officially declared myself a “failure at womanhood” and had both my tubes completely removed.
This art, is me. (Yes, these are the actual photos. And I won’t censor them as society has asked us to do). These are MY insides. MY uterus. MY reality. Despite so many people thinking they have any right to speak about what is ours.
With the current timeline, and the absolutely unfathomable individuals in office, this was the most timely choice I could make for myself—As a woman, and as a q***r individual. This surgery was a strategic cancer prevention measure, but it was also an extremely liberating decision on my part that I have thought about since I was 14 years old.
Violence against women has become a SYSTEMIC societal issue, I do not want to bring children into a world like this. And I do not want to be viewed as a vessel for men. Ever. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for mothers… it is just not a life I ever saw for myself. That is my own personal moral. I would never instill it elsewhere, but I am no less of a woman because of it either.
Motherhood is not my duty. Especially in a world that practically forces it onto women without their consent.
🏥❤️Thank you to the INCREDIBLE team at LGH, my surgeon, my nurses, my recovery team and everyone who had a hand in making my future, safer, brighter, and free. And to all my found family and friends who have stepped up during this time.❤️🏥
