I can finally share one of my most ambitious graphic design projects - my wedding stationery! Over the course of a year, I ended up designing save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, table number cards, and name cards!
About the process:
I worked with Valerie of for our save the dates and she was the one to encourage me to do the designs myself! Her expertise was incredibly helpful and working with her on the save the dates helped frame the visual direction that informed the rest of the wedding.
For the invites and detail cards, we wanted an art deco look that was inspired by Philly. So I went around center city, taking photos of art deco accents I found on various buildings and used those as the basis for making the rest of my designs. The invitation cards and envelopes were again printed by and the detail cards were printed by .
For the thank you cards, I again created the design based on an art deco lotus motif I saw in Center City. The cards were also printed by .
The table numbers were a but of a challenge in the fact that it would be very costly to get gold foil, but luckily was able to find a workaround through postcard printing.
Finally for the name cards, I carved a small linoleum block to get the art deco motif and then hand printed off white name cards from . I then hit up for a dip pen and calligraphy ink, practiced my cursive a few times, then wrote out our guests’ names and table numbers by hand.
In the bottom right corner of the first photo, you can even see custom room key cards provided for us! We used one of our engagement photos taken by .
Last but not least, the beautiful first and last pics were taken by .
It was a very informative process, and I learned a lot through it!
