We had the privilege of working with the Division of Reproductive, Adolescent, and Child Health at to develop GET TO KNOW ME, a provider-facing campaign designed to improve care for and by pregnant and parenting people living with the disease of addiction. The campaign centers the voices of Philadelphians with lived experience and is meant to help healthcare and social service providers reflect on how language, assumptions and interactions shape trust, engagement in care and recovery outcomes.
Today, we attended a campaign preview where we were especially honored to meet two badass moms, .mom.31324 and , who helped give voice to this community by sharing what it felt like to seek care, what helped them feel seen and what providers can do to lead with empathy instead of judgment. They have been in the same position as so many pregnant and parenting people living with addiction and their stories remind us that compassionate care can change how someone experiences support, hope and healing.
We can’t wait for you to hear their compelling stories once the campaign launches Mother’s Day, May 10: https://bit.ly/PhillyPSUD
