Hey! It’s Logan and Nick rounding off the trip with week 4! It’s crazy to think we’ve reached the end, but I’ve officially settled into the rhythm of life here. Being over here has completely shifted how I view the pace of life. Learning to slow down, take everything in, and look at my own life in a totally different light.

We kicked off this last stretch exploring closer to home at Palazzo Pitti and wandering through the Boboli Gardens. Walking through the massive halls and historical grounds was amazing, and the grand gardens offered some of the most beautiful views over Florence.

From there, we individually took a trip out to Cinque Terre to soak up the sun and enjoy the water. The coast was stunning, and swimming in the sea was the perfect reset. Of course, we ate incredibly well while we were there, grabbing some of the best pizza and local food right by the water.

Another highlight was Logan taking a trip over to the Ferrari Museum. Seeing the history, design, and engineering up close was unbelievable and such a cool experience to squeeze into the final days.

Back in Florence, Logan capped off the entire trip with a super unique night out: watching The Odyssey inside the famous bookstore theater. Sitting in that historic spot surrounded by books and film made for an unforgettable final evening.

We have had such a great, amazing time soaking up every single moment of this trip. As sad as it is to see this chapter close, we are both so excited to head back home with a completely fresh perspective!

Hi everyone! This is Raine with week 6 of study abroad takeover!

I am currently in London doing a study abroad focused on Dance, which is one of my minors. While I’m mainly focusing on dance, I have found a ton of inspiration already for design here!

This is our first week of the program, and we were at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for their summer dance intensive! During Monday through Saturday, we had 6 hours of dance. Classes included many different dance styles for different levels. It was a long, and difficult week, but on Saturday we finished strong and very proud of what we accomplished!

During the free time we got in the evenings, we would try different restaurants and foods in the area, or relax in our living room together. After we finished the intensive on Saturday we all went out to dinner to celebrate, and got to explore the area we are continuing our classes starting Monday!

It has been a great opportunity for me to not only get to be abroad, but get to be abroad for something that isn’t just for my major. In the next 4 weeks, I plan to visit a bunch of art museums around London to get even more inspiration for the coming school year.

For our final day, we created printed shirts in our screenprinting lab! 🖨️🎨✨ Each student hand-drew or printed a photo onto their shirt, then mixed colors to build fun, detailed designs.

As the week wraps up, we just want to say: it's been amazing getting to work with so many bright, aspiring graphic designers. We wish you all the best!

Yesterday, in the Graphic Design Summer Program, we jumped into our Color and Patterns workshop!🖌️

We took a close look at classical paintings loved around the world and broke down the colors that brought each one to life. After lunch, we turned those palettes into bold abstract patterns of our own.

We tackled the challenge head-on, taking inspiration from the old masters and reimagining it in something brand new. Can't wait to see what's next! 🌟

We officially kicked off the Graphic Design Summer Program with a Plaster Hands and Paper Boxes workshop! 🎨

We spent the morning creating molds of our hands before pouring in plaster. After lunch, we designed custom display boxes that responded to each hand's unique pose, creative problem solving along the way.

It was a day full of thoughtful discussions, new skills, creativity, and lots of fun. We can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store! 😊

Hello, this is Aseel and Sartaj taking over Week 2 of study abroad in Florence!

This week was a busy mix of classes, exploring Florence, and even traveling beyond Italy! Between taking art history and painting classes at Accademia Italiana, we’ve been getting more comfortable just living in the city, spending our free time wandering cobblestone streets, getting a little lost, and discovering historic landmarks and beautiful architecture along the way.

Naturally, a lot of our time ended up being spent in museums and churches around Florence, where we got to see some of famous works by Michelangelo such as his David statue, which stopped both of us from our tracks.

During free days between classes, we made it our mission to explore Italy further and went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and later in the week we spent our time by visiting one of the many beautiful beaches in Italy, Rosignano. One of the biggest highlights of the week was San Giovanni Battista Day on June 24th. We watched the whole of Florence come together to celebrate the patron saint of the city under the night sky, accompanied by the amazing fireworks over the Arno River from Piazzale Michelangelo.

Besides exploring Italy, we also found ourselves in Switzerland in the middle of the Swiss Alps for the weekend. We first visited Grindelwald, where we were surrounded by beautiful mountains that looked like they came straight out of a postcard. Later, we also got a chance to walk through the Aare Gorge, walking through narrow paths carved between cliffs and blue water rushing beneath our feet.

Drexel is back in Florence for another year of study abroad! Jackie and Otis start off our journey! During the first week, we had introductions for our classes at Accademia Italiana, as well as ample time to explore and familiarize ourselves with the city. We both spent a lot of time wandering through the wonky, cobbled streets, stopping in at the occasional store or artisan. We saw many famous historical sights such as the Duomo and the Basilica of Santa Croce.
Otis became particularly fond of a sandwich shop near the Piazza della Signoria, which he went to most days for a lunch or dinner. Jackie has taken a liking to the ocean and has traveled to the coast multiple times. On Wednesday, a group of us decided to travel by train out to a Tuscan beach. The day was hot and gorgeous, and the water was sparkling and clear.
Of course, we had to explore the local cuisine and dined at several establishments, including a night of fine dining as a group at Canto del Rame.
Over this first weekend, some of the students in the program took the first adventure out to Siena and San Gimignano. The rich history and art we learned about on our guided tour of Siena were moving, and the sights from the hill town of San Gimignano were positively stunning.
