Networking Is So Important!
Here's why:

Networking helps you make new contacts, keeps tabs on industry trends and developments, pick up new innovative ideas, and meet prospective partners, investors, customers, employers and employees.

When you attend a meeting or an event, work the room. Move out of your comfort zone. Don't just mingle and talk to people you know. Always maintain a professional image. Introduce yourself, with confidence, to the key people you need to meet before you leave the meeting or event.

If you have the budget, be a sponsor of a networking event. You and your company will become highly visible.

If you have a management team, let them attend the event also. The more people you have that are networking, the more contacts you will make.

If you go to an event with your staff, split up after you eat. Don't sit at the table chatting the whole time. Get up! Move around! Your staff should be networking with other professional business people and handing out and collecting business cards. Follow up with your contacts. They may become your next client or give you a referral.

Did you know that when you are networking and engaged in a conversation you have only about 15-30 seconds to tell the person what you do and what products or services you offer? Let the person ask you for your business card. Also give the person a chance to talk about themselves and their products or services. They will probably give you their business card to keep in touch or to do business with you. Ask the person is it better to contact them via text, phone call, email, or their website.

If you get a name tag, wear it on the right side because when someone shakes your right hand, they will automatically look at your name badge. You can also invest in a silver or gold custom metal name badge with your logo and company name on it. Check out an engraving company for custom designs and prices. It's worth the investment! It will give you a professional image.

My advice to you:
Join a professional organization or association in your industry and network, network, network! You will meet a lot of top Industry professionals. This is the greatest investment you can make.
